Some memories of my Mother:
I was. About 4 or 5 Mom felt it was time for me to learn how to swim, she threw me in the pool. And I swam for my life! Ya know what, she was right, I swam like a fish from that day forward.
What’s for dinner? Tortillas beans and what ever else you can find to put in there.
No mother was as proud as she was when I sang, she always bragged on me, I’m sure she still is.
I’ll never forget her sexy Cutlass Supreme - maroon 2 door, red plastic seats, damn had style.
She loved Red! The carpet was red shag, the curtains were red, the wall paper with the naked people, that was black and white to compliments the red. - looking back… hmmmm
I recall one birthday, on Cherrylawn cir, it was Thanksgiving and my birthday, she put candles on the turkey and I got to blow them out. ( always thought that was weird)
All of my friends were welcome in the house, and she always made sure we had something to eat.
When I was 18, I decided I was man enough to move out on my own, I did….she lovingly took me back in 1 year later when I realized wasn’t quite there yet.
I’ll never forget the giant record player console we had (yep the speakers had red material on them ) she loved listening to Andy Williams.
When mom was in assisted living, I took care of all her financial matters, I’d bring her some case in case she needed some. The next week she would tell me she needed more. After a few times of this, I finally asked where all her cash was going??? She said I make regular donations to St. Jude.
The last few weeks of her life, she lost her vision, so at 89, she had to learn how to eat, dress and do every day things all over, she told us she wanted us to take her to the school for the blind so she could learn to do everything, including driving.
