Obituary of Joe Ybarra Ramirez

Our beloved Joe Ybarra Ramirez, age 73, resident of Austin, Texas, was called home to our Heavenly Father on Friday, October 6, 2023.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roman and Ramona Ramirez. 

Joe was loved and surrounded by his family. He was a very kind, loving and generous person. Joe was the heart beat of the family and our hero. He was a proud Army Veteran who served our country from 1969-1972. He received many honors including The National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Sharpshooter (Rifle) award. His joy and laughter will be greatly missed. 

Joe is survived by his six siblings: Janie Davis, Louis Ramirez (Angie), Augustin Ramirez, Teresa Marie Robinson (Edward), George Ramirez (Liz Cortez), Elizabeth Ann Garza (Jason); 10 nieces and nephews: Louis Ramirez, Jr., Daniel Ramirez, Stephanie Louise Ramirez, Jonathan Lee Davis, Jennifer Marie Davis, Edward Rene Robinson, Andrew Roman Robinson, George Ryan Ramirez, Eliana Kaitlyn Garza, and Jason Maximo Garza; 2 great-grand nieces and nephews: Kai Valdez, Alex Ramirez, and Aidan Ramirez; 3 great-great grand nieces: Lailah Valdez, Kinley Valdez, and Reese Valdez; and many other loving family and friends. 

Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 22, 2023, at 12:00 p.m., with Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 1:00 p.m., at Mission Funeral Home Serenity, 6204 S 1st Street, Austin, Texas 78745.

Burial will follow on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at 1:15 p.m., at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd. San Antonio, TX 78209.
