My Wela was always so generous with all she did and all she gave. She used to come to our church, and when she did, she’d usually bring people jars of salsa. On Easter, she’d always, always bring me a carton of cascarones. On many Sundays after church ended, she’d take Jacob and I out to eat, or we’d go to Saver’s and look for toys we were interested in. We would go to the back of the store and check out the little transparent plastic mixed bags being sold to see if any of them had something inside we wanted. We would often make her buy a whole bag full of figures for the one or two inside we really wanted, and when she realized, she was upset at us for wasting her money like that! But she never held it against us.
At her house, she’d make us summer sausage and we’d play in the back room for hours and hours. We’d often play with the things she’d bought for us that Sunday or on previous Sundays. She always had things around we could use for wacky stories. She gave us so many hours of fun and I never wanted to go home after a day at her house.
I still have all those figures she bought me, and I still love Pokémon as much as ever. In one of the attached pictures, she’d attended one of my birthday parties at a little pottery place years and years ago. She’d painted a little ceramic ladybug, and ended up giving it to me. It sits on my shelf now. Two little metal birds she’d given me years ago, because I couldn’t bear to pick just one and separate them, sit above my dresser. I think I will always remember her sense of home decor. You could see how loved and lived in her little place was, even if it might have been somewhat cluttered! The little things she decorated her house with are still waiting for me to assemble around my room. I haven’t been able to do it yet. I know these things are only material, and she was so much more than just things, but they still feel like pieces of her and her love.
Thank you for everything, Wela. I miss and love you so much. You were the best grandma I ever could have asked for

To My Family
Sorry for the loss of your mom. May she rest in peace. And may god give you all the strength and comfort during this difficult time.
Janice Valencia
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Condolences to the Mata and Ramirez Family. Frances was my cousin, I am eight months older than Frances. Specific memories are difficult to recall other than we shared our first decade or so running around Mama Juanita and Papa Severo's house, normally on Sundays. We moved from Lockhart when I was 13-14 years old. To my regret, I really don't remember the last time I saw Frances but I certainly remember her face. We were PRIMOS.

Moms,
I can’t believe we have no more hellos, silly phone calls, hugs,or kisses. Even though I was a thousand miles away when we talked or had a visit it always felt like no time had passed.
I still have all your written letters and cards that I will cherish forever until we are back in each other’s company.
You have always been the wind beneath my wings. Your encouragement would make me feel better. Your advice was always on point and so brilliant. And the prayers we shared. Always answered Amen thank you Jesus.
Thank you mom for all the things you taught me from cooking to sewing to gardening and so much more. You taught me how to be a strong hardworking woman. Thank you for loving my kids like your own. For all the things you did for them.
I will always hold you close in my heart and in my prayers. At all times give thanks.
Thank you abba for the most amazing mother a child could have. Thank you for answered prayers. Thank you for your peace and grace.
Love you more more more!!
XOXOXO

Frances became a close friend to my husband, Robert (in heaven 2004) and me and our kids in the late 1980s. We were all part of New Covenant Church in S. Austin.
Frances would tell Robert that he was like a brother to her...they were kindred spirits for sure. He loved to share her native tongue because he loved Mexico and its culture. They both had such a joyful heart for Jesus and wanted to share that with everyone.
Frances spoiled us with her enchiladas. She frequently invited us to her home on Cherry Loop, and we had the most delicious meals and always a good time.
Words that come to mind when I think of Frances are: loving, caring, welcoming, prayer warrior, and full of grace, joyful, and thankful! No matter what her circumstances, she never lost sight of how the Lord was her strength, nor lost her joy.
She loved her daughters and son, and then that love spilled over to her grandchildren. I always remember her telling me about times when she and Brooke were driving in the car and they'd see a sunrise or sunset and she'd say "Look at the beautiful sky Jesus painted. Thank you Jesus!"
To this day I always think of her when I see a beautiful sunrise or sunset and remember to thank God for it!
I will miss you sweet friend. I know Robert was one of the first to come and give you a big hug in heaven. One day we will all be home!

Oh momma, I am still struggling to figure out how to do this life without you in it. For the last 5 years our lives have been interwoven with almost daily activity and now there is such a profound silence without you in it.
I thank Abba that I will see you again and am so grateful for the 50 years that I had you as an example on this earth. Thank you for loving me, teaching me, praying for me, guiding me, holding me, speaking God's word to and over me, for the amazing food you fed and taught me to make, for your never ending selflessness.
Rest well in knowing that you walked as a shining light on this earth to all those around you.
I love you more!

Mummy,
It would take many many pages to share our love story, the love between a mother and child. You taught me so much and you were a great example to me in so many ways. First you taught me how to love Jesus, as a kid and while under your roof God was first. You taught me work ethics and even at a young age to be good at what you were hired for. You taught me respect and to always honor your elders. You taught me to cook, and I’d like to think I can cook almost as good as you today because of you, but not always easy to learn from you as you were always telling me “ you just feel it” when it came to measuring. I love that through your life story Jesus was always there in the details amidst the pain and sorrow that was dealt to you so young in life, and that through that pain you still rose above it all to sing a song in your heart of hope, joy, peace and rest. It wasn’t always easy but somehow we were always ok. I love that you got to see not only your kids grow into the adults we all are, but then your grandchildren and then there the two great grandchildren you met and knew if even for a brief period of time. You were my go to when I needed prayers or a prayer request…I could bet you’d pick up a line and talk to Abba himself as always those prayers were answered. I know your forever young, forever healthy forever strong in the presence of Jesus…Hallelujah.
Now I find myself asking Abba to come quickly so that I can once again be in your company. I miss you, I miss our talks and conversations, I miss your presence in my life… I hope your running in Heaven with Major..I hope you’re celebrating with many more loved ones there with you now. Please send me Pennie’s from Heaven so I’ll know it’s you when I find them. I love you momma, thank you soooo much for fighting the good fight, Rest in Peace ..I know we will see each other again.❤️

Those that new my Grandma best knew how witty and funny she could be, how giving and how selfless she was, how picky and particular she was and how loving she was.
Most of my childhood memories with my Grandma are from when she lived in a house on a street called Cherry Loop. I would spend my summers staying up late in bed with her watching June Bugs on Cartoon Network splitting spam sandwiches fresh out of the tin. I remember the way her nails would pinch me as she would help get my pantyhose on for church on Sunday mornings. I remember the hallway that led to her room, a hallway that is probably much bigger in my imagination than in actuality and I can picture myself standing in it to this day. And I remember the bing Monet print she had above her bed. As an adult my memories were spent with her on Eberhart Lane trying to learn how to cook, helping her wrap Christmas presents, bringing her groceries and hearing her stories.
My Grandma was a very impressive woman. She could cook like no other, she loved Elvis AND Jesus, and she could grow just about anything from a seed. I think one of the most impressive things my Grandma learned how to do though was navigate using an iPhone and text messaging! She knew that her grandkids generation weren’t phone talkers, unfortunately and so she adapted to our ways. I am so thankful that I have years of messages built up between the two of us.
Grandmas prayers were the best around, I always thought she had God on speed dial and he always picked up when she called. Always always. I think the reason why she didn’t stay with us was because she wasn’t asking to be healed- she was ready to go and be with him.
Muah muah muah muah Grammy I love you and I miss you so much!

We had the meanest mother in the whole world! While other kids ate candy for breakfast, we had to have cereal, eggs, and toast. When others had a Pepsi and a Twinkie for lunch, we had to eat sandwiches. And you can guess our mother fixed us a dinner that was different from other kids had, too.
Mother insisted on knowing where we were at all times. You'd think we were convicts in a prison. She had to know who our friends were, and what we were doing with them. She insisted that if we said we would be gone for an hour, we would be gone for an hour or less.
We were ashamed to admit it, but she had the nerve to break the Child Labor Laws by making us work. We had to wash the dishes, make the beds, learn to cook, vacuum the floor, do laundry, and all sorts of cruel jobs. I think she would lie awake at night thinking of more things for us to do. She always insisted on us telling the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.
By the time we were teenagers, she could read our minds. Then, life was really tough! Mother wouldn't let our friends just honk the horn when they drove up. They had to come up to the door so she could meet them. While everyone else could date when they were 12 or 13, we had to wait until we were 17,18,19…
Because of our mother, we missed out on lots of things other kids experienced. None of us have ever been caught shoplifting, vandalizing other's property, or ever arrested for any crime. It was all her fault. We never got drunk, took up smoking, stayed out all night, or a million other things, other kids did. Sundays were reserved for church, and we never missed once. We knew better than to ask to spend the night with a friend on Saturdays.
Now that we have left home, we are all God-fearing, educated, honest adults. We are doing our best to be mean parents just like Mom was. I think that's what is wrong with the world today. It just doesn't have enough mean moms anymore.
