Obituary of Steven Rodriguez, Sr.

Steven Rodriguez Sr. passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and friends on March 30th 2023 at the age of 59.  He was born on December 19, 1963 in Austin Texas.

Steven is preceded in death by his father, Manuel Rodriguez Sr.; his mother, Anita Rodriguez, and his big brother, Manuel Rodriguez Jr. and survived by his sisters, Joanna Castro husband David, Sandra Perez husband Joe, and his sister-in-law, Lia Rodriguez. 

Steven Rodriguez Sr. is also survived and missed greatly by his wife of 38 years, Monica Rodriguez; his six children; Steven Rodriguez Jr and wife, Monica, Iris Ashley Rodriguez and husband, James, Geronimo Rodriguez and wife, Amanda, Eric Robert Rodriguez and wife, Naomi, Jacob Steven Rodriguez and fiancé, Starr, and Monique Loren Rodriguez; his beloved 12 grandchildren, Descianna, Alissa, Summer, Steven III, Jacob, Maliah, Lyla, Adrian, Aiden, Alliyah, Jordan, Zephrym and a number of nieces and nephews who knew him as “Uncle Steve”. 

Steven took pride in his work as a Mason for 40 years working on thousands of homes mailboxes, fences, fire pits, chimneys and other structures in Central TX.   

Steven was also a youth coach for many years who focused on the kids, the guidance, and encouragement to be a part of the team. 

There are no words that can express how grateful and blessed he was to have had so many friends, and for those who came over for all those Texas Longhorn games. He was a huge fan, and we were a huge fan of his cooking.  Hook”em

Pallbearers will be; Lionel Aleman, Adrian Rene Rodriguez, Jesse Franco Garcia, David Vasquez IV, LJ Aleman, Steven Rodriguez III, Mark Adam Aleman, and Greg Rodriguez.  Honorary pallbearers will be Aiden Jiraiya Rodriguez and Jacob Mathew Castilleja.

Visitation Service will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with the Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m., Pastor David Castro officiating at Mission Funeral Home-South Side, 6204 S. First St., Austin Texas 78745.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at 11:00 a.m., Pastor David Castro officiating also at Mission Funeral Home-South Side. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery, 3650 S. IH-35, Austin, Texas 78704.  

Services will be live-streamed to allow those unable to attend to participate.  Follow link to Facebook Live MissionSouth. 

 

Due to the Coronavirus /  COVID-19 Restrictions from the City of Austin,

capacity levels are restricted at funeral homes, churches, and cemeteries.

Each person entering the funeral home, church, and cemetery will be required to wear a mask

and to practice social distancing of 6 feet or more.   If you are ill or are concerned about the virus,

it is recommended that you not attend services. 

The family is so grateful to everyone for their understanding, love, and support

during this very difficult time.
