Thinking of my Grandmother Lara
The Blue Bonnet is the Texas state flower. My cousin Peter explained this to me this past Sunday as his front yard is covered with beautiful Blue Bonnets. I kept seeing this reoccurring theme of the color blue and flowers. When I returned home from Texas I was organizing my jewelry when I realized the only sentimental item I had from my Grandmother was a delicate, small cross necklace she gave to me when I was a little girl. All these years I kept the necklace in a small round trinket box. The top of the box is covered with beautiful blue flowers! What an extraordinary coincidence! The Blue Bonnet flower will always be symbolic to me, as it represents the state flower of Texas, where my Grandmother and Grandfather Lara began their family. They had 13 children, 27 grandchildren, 59 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild (100!). I will always remember my Grandmother Lara, she always made me feel special. My heart is full of love and gratefulness for my Grandmother Lara. May she Rest In Peace.
