Here is a picture of Blake, Mete, Jack, and me on the back porch of Alva and Jeannie Parson's house in Tipp City, Ohio. After graduation from high school in 1972, we had agreed to meet together when Halley's Comet returned in April 1986.

In 2014, Jack had the patience and the quirky desire to make friends with a hummingbird who was frequenting the feeder on his porch in Dripping Springs. He wore that red ski mask until the hummingbird would sip nectar from the feeder in his hand and, finally, his mouth. Who else among us has been kissed by a hummingbird!

It’s been over 30 years, but I can still see and hear Jack in the little WFM accounting office up the hill, the weird brown office next to the stream and in the headquarters/warehouse off of Steck.
