Our beloved Rufus Perez Amaro Jr. Born in Round Rock, Texas on November 21,1941; was called to our Heavenly Father on Saturday, February 20, 2021.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Concepcion Perez Amaro and Refugio Amaro Sr.
He is survived by his wife Janie Amaro; daughter Cynthia Amaro Rodriguez her husband Jesus Rodriguez, grandson David Rodriguez, brother Robert Amaro, and sister Virginia Villarreal; numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, The Ramos, Samilpa, Longoria, and Rivas families, and many other loving family and friends.
Rufus was born and raised, in Round, Texas. He began playing baseball at an early age and from there he was chosen to play with numerous teams all over the Round Rock and Austin area. He would go on to play with multiple Baseball Teams alongside many family members and team mates that what would be become his lifelong friends. During those years, Rufus often gained notoriety in the local newspapers for his baseball victories.
Rufus worked as a Pharmaceutical Courier for over 40 years around the Travis County area. He loved the work because it allowed him to travel all over the central Texas region. There he created wonderful relationships with his colleagues and the nursing home staff and patients alike.
After his retirement if you ever found yourself looking for Rufus, you’d easily find him visiting with family and enjoying Mexican food at the regular “Primos Breakfast”. Rufus was all about his family. He was a beloved father, husband, brother, uncle, grandfather, godfather, cousin and nephew. He was known by many names to family and friends over the years: Geronimo, El Coyote, Primo, Uncle Froggy, Uncle Roof, Hermanito, Spook, and he had nicknames for everyone he met.
Anybody who knew him or even saw him proudly walking by in full gear, knew that he was the biggest Round Rock Dragon and Longhorns fan. Rufus’s legacy of making others feel welcome and cracking jokes to brighten everyone’s day was a trait that he emulated in his own life and family.
In advance the family would like to thank everyone for their love and support through this most difficult time.
