Mary was the first touch of "outsiders" taking care of both Jessica and Grant. When John and I had to give up our kids for "daycare" as little infants...Mary was the woman who first cradled Jessica in her arms and made me feel that she was in the best of care. (Still, we cried all the way to work) Travis High School had daycare and we were lucky enough to get Mary as the caretaker (in addition to all the energetic teens at Travis High). As Jessica grew up, she would toddle into the bathroom with Mary...because other wise Jess would stand outside and cry until Mary came out. With Grant, we just tossed him in Mary's arms and took off to work. After they graduated from Day Care during the summer Mary would take care of them during the day and fell in love with her dog Cujo! (EKKK!) I just wish I had done a better job of keeping up with her after she worked at Austin High...She was full of light, laughter, joy and good will toward children, teens and of course, her "babies." Thank you Mary for calming the fears of a first time mom and making it easier to go off and teach "others" children, knowing that mine were taken care of.

Mary was a wonderful help to me in my classroom for 8 years at Allison Elementary School. The children would call her 'Grandma Mary.' She had a very good listening ear when the children would come to her with a question or a problem. She helped me through many projects we had for the children. She was there supporting the classroom through all the holidays and seasons through the good and the bad, and through the sad times and happy times with the children All the children loved her and would always hug her. She would always great them in the morning with a smile and a hug. May God strengthen her family during this hard time. I know she will be greatly missed by everyone who loved her. She was truly a good supporting friend to me.

Our Condolences to the Arevalo family. Charles & I (Gary) played baseball together. I still have fond memories of spending the weekend with the Arevalos. Mr (Jr) & Mrs. Arevalo were the kindest folks. One weekend, we all went to San Antonio for a fiesta and also horseback riding. In later years, whenever I saw Mrs. Arevalo, she would greet me with a big smile and open arms.
Now the Lord has welcomed her with Open Arms. Our Thoughts & Prayers are with the Arevalo family.
Sincerly
