Obituary of Thomas Resendez

Our dear Thomas Resendez, age 70, was called to our Heavenly Father on Monday, May 18, 2020.  He was preceded in death by his son, Jose Angel Resendez; parents, Antonio Resendez and Augustina Castruita Navarro; his siblings, Dorothy Juarez, Carmen Salas, and Jesse Navarro, and the mother of his children, Angelina Arocha Resendez.

Thomas is survived by his children, Natalie Rose Rodriguez and her husband, Gustavo, and Javier Thomas Resendez; his grandchildren, Joseph Angel Resendez, Gustavo Ignacio Rodriguez, and Sandra Josefina Rodriguez; his siblings, Frances Martinez, Emilio Navarro and his wife, Maria, Lupe Ramirez, Paula Solis, Verge Rivera, Cynthia Rivera and her husband, Fernando, Douglas Richard Navarro; his aunt, Mary Mendez, and numerous nieces, nephews, other loving family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Nathan D. Navarro, Dominic A. Navarro, Angelo Navarro, Willie Mitchell, Joseph Angel Resendez, Darrin Allen, Jackson, Eric Barrera, and Mark A. Navarro.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Charles "Chuck" Barrera, Jason Flores, and Joe Zapata. 

Public Lie in State will be held from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 28, 2020, at Mission Funeral Home - South Side, 6204 S. First St., Austin, Texas.  Private Recitation of Holy Rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m. and will be live-streamed to allow those unable to attend to participate.

Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, May 29, 2020 at St. Mary Cathedral Catholic Church, 203 E. 10th St., Austin, Texas.  Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.

Due to the Coronavirus /  COVID-19 Restrictions from the City of Austin,

Visitation, Mass, and Burial are limited in capacity.

Visitation is limited to 60 people, Mass is limited to 100, and Burial is Private.

Mass at St. Mary Cathedral requires arrival 30 minutes prior to the start of Mass.  Each person

entering will be required to have a mask. 

If you will be attending, masks are required at the funeral home also.

The family is so grateful to everyone for their understanding, love, and support

during this very difficult time.
