Obituary of Sophia Anna Cardenas

Our Beloved Sophia Anna Cardenas, age 46, of San Antonio, Texas was called by our Heavenly Father on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 in Austin, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her brother Nicholas V. Cardenas.

She is survived by her parents Jesus H. Cardenas and Alicia Villanueva Cardenas; siblings Mona C. Davila, Jennifer (Stephanie) Cardenas, Jesus P. (Wendy) Cardenas, and Eduardo V. (Angela) Cardenas; her nieces and nephews Alexa, Angel, Cassandra, Annaliese, Evangelina, Kamea, Nickolas and Ezra; her great nieces and nephews Andrea, Olivia and Elijah; and numerous other loving family and friends.

Sophia was always quick to smile, assist those in need, and see the beauty in the world around her. She was fierce in defending those she loved. She was gentle, strong, funny, and would not hesitate to tell you if she thought you were wrong. She had a wicked sense of humor and loved to banter with the best. At times, Sophia could seem aloof, but to those with a keen eye it was easy to tell she did not let her world be bogged down by the trivial. She kept her own time, walked to her own beat, and did everything on her terms.

Even though she will be missed, she asked that we all come together to celebrate her life, to share stories, laugh, and keep her in our hearts the way she lived her life.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with Recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at Mission Funeral Home – South Side, 6204 South First Street; Austin, Texas 78745. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church. This will conclude services. The family would like to invite you to a fellowship meal after the church services at 11: 00 a.m.
