My deepest condolences to the friends and family. I was so sad to hear about Dr. Ramona's passing. She was my childhood pediatrician and also for my 3 siblings. We were all sad to leave her once we turned 17. Im 29 now but i still remember her and our doctors visits. She was such a kind doctor to all of us. We all loved her. My mom loved the fact that she spoke spanish. Im sure she will be missed by so many people. But we can find confort in knowing about God's promise that we will be able to see her soon. (Isaiah 25:8) (Revelation 21:3-5)

Dr, Lopez truly had a light you could see from across the room. She is the most amazing doctor I have ever found for my children. She is going to be hard to replace. The last time I saw her was a month before her passing. Not once did I know she was sick. She was as joyful as ever. I told her I loved her hair short not realizing she was sick. As she said it. We will experience death spiritually but if we turn to lord we have life. Thank you Dr. Lopez for your kindness and tender heart just by your smile and sweet words

Never did I think Dr. Lopez would leave us this soon. I'am certain she is in God's presence now and i thank Him for letting us borrow her for the time she was here on earth. She was my children's pediatrician since 1998 and in all those years i've never seen her in bad spirits. Even with an extremely busy practice, i don't think she ever turned away a newborn patient. While most pediatricians only accepted private health insurance, she was the only one that accepted Medicaid. I know this because I suffered a job loss during my third pregnancy so was forced to get on Medicaid. She was my 1st and 2nd child's pediatrician but when i moved to a new location, i chose a pediatrician closer to home. After giving birth to my third child, the hospital (St. David's) wouldn't let me be released until I had confirmation of newborn visit with a pediatrician. I don't recall this ever being a requirement in the past so didn't think that it would be an issue until i discovered that my new pediatrician didn't accept Medicaid. After the 7th reject i started to cry. None of the doctors accepted Medicaid in my area. I was in a state of panic. Here i held a tiny little angel in my arms and he was already facing obstacles in life. I felt so horrible and sad. My tears were for him. Quick backstory: I was working at a prominent advertising agency in downtown Austin during the recession (2009) and chose to not terminate my pregnancy even though i knew it could possibly jeopardize my career. Looking back, I'm pretty sure there weren't too many pregnant junior account executive's working at any renowned advertising agency. But for me, my family always came first. So even though my first annual performance review was exceptional and I was a "rising star", guess who was on the chopping block a year later when they started to cut staff during the recession? Me. Since i was already showing (7 months) i couldn't land another job until after pregnancy and my husband worked for a small business that didn't provide health insurance so i had to be on Medicaid the last trimester. I made one last attempt to secure a pediatrician. Even though Dr.Lopez would be a 75 mile round-trip visit, I had to secure a visit. Thankfully her office accepted Medicaid and i was so relieved and happy. I think her office accepts Medicaid because they believe all children deserve to be treated. Brings tears to my eyes. She gave me hope. Her love passed on to us caregivers to help bring out the best in us so that we could raise our babies with the upmost love and compassion. Throughout the years, I noticed her office was so busy and at first i used to wonder how she could see so many patients and now I am sure it was because God gave her the strength to open her arms to all children, regardless of income or insurance coverage. She was a true angel. When i managed to secure another job and get good health insurance coverage, I decided to stay with her even though she was quite a distance away. I knew she was a rare doctor that truly cared about her patients. I wish I could have told her how much she meant to us and this story. I'm sure she is in heaven and praying she gets this message. Thanks so much Dr. Lopez! You will forever live in my heart! Until we meet again....

I just found out about Dr. Lopez’s passing today. I was one of her patients, and I can’t explain how much she helped me. She inspired me in so many ways. She offered her help when I showed my first signs of depression and knew just what to say to get me to reconsider my life. All of my prayers go to her children, husband, and grandchildren. My sincerest condolences for Ramona’s family. May you find comfort in God’s loving promise at Revelation 21:3,4 “With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: “Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his people. And God himself will be with them. 4 And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”
We can look forward to a time when we will be reunited with those whom we love on a beautiful paradise earth, where there will be no more pain and we will enjoy true peace- Psalm 37:29.

I’m sorry for the loss of your beloved Ramona, the loss of a loved one brings great grief and pain that leaves a void in our hearts. In the Bible Jesus made us a promise in John 5:28,”Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out.” When these words come true we will be able to enjoy life once more with our beloved close ones who have fallen asleep in death, under different circumstances. (Revelation 21:4) I hope these words give you comfort and peace during these difficult times.

My relationship with Ramona began as I chose her to be my children’s pediatrician. At two weeks of age, she had to perform a spinal tap on my son because of an unknown cause of fever. She calmed my fears and treated my children any time I needed her. While attending my daughter’s Christian school picnic, Ramona and I recognized each other and discovered our children went to the same school. Both of us have five children and we both loved The Lord and became fast friends, confidants and enjoyed getting our children together as much as possible. Our children enjoyed being in swim team together, while Ramona and I enjoyed Starbucks! Her favorite was an orange Frappuccino and mine, caramel. We went to Fiesta Texas together, camping together!! And we got even closer as I became a single mother. Ramona was always encouraging, had a beautiful soul and I loved her very much. As hard as it was to leave our friendship, I moved to Pennsylvania to start a new life with my children. That didn’t stop our friendship though, she came twice in the last 16 years to see us. We had a great time at my daughter’s wedding!!! When I would travel to Austin to visit my daughter we always made a time to visit over lunch or dinner. My last time with Ramona was a year ago at Cherry Creek Catfish! What a wonderful time we had. Even through her battle with a terminal cancer, she was positive but genuine with her battle. We laughed, prayed and cried. I will always regret not talking to her recently.
Rocky, Ben, Rachael, Nick, Daniel, Laura, Ramona loves you with everything in her. Even though you won’t see her now, I do believe she will be watching you as she enjoys being with her beloved Savior, Jesus.

Dr Lopez was an amazing person and most of all my daughters HERO! My daughter was born with CHD, and I remember after an appointment my daughter stopped breathing and laid lifeless on Dr Lopez doctors office bed. I remember the scared face she had as she did CPR to bring my baby back to life.. and she DID IT! I can’t thank her enough for saving my daughter. My condolences to the family! We LOVE you!

Dr Lopez cared so well for my children- and me- over the past 19 years. Always kind, always laughing. Always took my concerns seriously- and walked through everything with us.
We saw her faith in a real way, and knew she prayed over us all. She listened to my daughter's Cubbies verses a few times, sang VeggieTales songs to calm my autistic son (his favorite), and laughed heartily at my youngest's animal impressions.
We did not know her well, but we loved her.

My deepest condolences to the family and friends of Dr Lopez. I just want to add, that she was such a caring person, as a doctor of children, always smiling at the office where she worked. Since the adoption of my grandkids over 10 years ago, Dr Lopez, and Dr Hines, have been their physicians. Dr Lopez, thank you for your loving, caring smile, to the kids. It will be very sad, not to see that caring person, and smiling face again. I will now have to tell my grandkids, that their Dr Lopez, has gone to be with the Lord. God bless to the family and friends, my deepest sympathy..
R. I. P Dr Lopez
Christopher, Joseph, Jeanette and Felipe Gonzales, will never forget you!
Thank you for making them well, when they were ill.

Dr. Ramona Lopez was my pediatrician as a child. I’m 28, now. Before I moved to Mexico, she was as also my kids’ pediatrician. Very friendly, sweet, gentle woman. She knew how to interact with children and put them at ease to where they won’t cry, well with my children, at least. I loved her! She is one of the best! Definitely will be missed!! My heart dropped when I seen this and couldn’t believe it. My deepest condolences for her family. She may be gone physically but will remain in your hearts, always! I wish I could be there in person to say my goodbyes. Please give her my goodbyes for me. Rest in Heaven, Mrs. Ramona Lopez!! ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

It was truly a blessing to meet such a beautiful, caring person. She will truly be missed. The last time I seen her we both cried as she told me what she was battling. She gave me the biggest hug and she has made a positive impact on mine and my children's life.

I had the blessing of hiring Ramona at Pediatrics of South Austin when she first came to Austin in the late 1980's. She was such a steady person, dedicated to her patients, her family, and her Lord.
I remember trying to send her home when she was pregnant and having morning sickness, but she would rather gut it out, throw up, and then return to care for her patients.
I always told people that she was the best pediatrician in Austin and sent my own grandchildren to her because I continued to believe that to be the case.
She was as good of a person as she was a pediatrician.
I have shed a lot of tears over her early death as I know many people have. I especially am sad for Rocky and her kids and grandkids.
But she is dancing joyfully with the Lord now, and I know she will want to see all of us again and beg us all to know Jesus as our Savior so that we can dance in heaven together.
You were a joy to know, Ramona. I am glad that in a few years or decades, I will give you a big hug in heaven and we will enjoy the Lord together.
