Obituary of Clyde Poldrack
Rev. Clyde Ray Poldrack was born on January 21, 1937 to Carl Sr. and Emilie (Rinderknecht) Poldrack in Taylor, Texas. He passed from this life on September 6, 2017 in Austin, Texas with his wife by his side.
Upon graduation from Thorndale High School in 1955, Clyde joined the United States Navy. He was an IC electrician and had obtained the rank of 1st Class Petty Officer prior to his discharge in 1959.
Clyde married the love of his life, Carolyn Gebhard, on July 24, 1965 in Elgin, Texas. In 1966, he became an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God. During the eighties, he served at the Austin Section Presbyter for eight years. In June 2016, Clyde was recognized by the North Texas District for 50 years of ministry with the Assemblies of God.
Through the years, he and his wife served as pastors in several churches throughout Texas with the last pastorate being at Bethel Assembly of God in Austin. There, he served as senior pastor for more than two decades.
Clyde loved people. He could always be found telling others about Jesus. Even after retirement, he continued to fervently study the Word of God. Clyde was a scholar in Greek and Hebrew, and donated his time teaching others the Biblical languages. He loved ministering to those in the nursing homes and often spent hours on the telephone reaching out to encourage people.
Along with pastoring, Clyde spent many years as an IBM typewriter repairman. He enjoyed fixing broken machinery. Most recently, his hobby was repairing laptop computers and donating them to people who could not afford to purchase a new laptop. He recently repaired 30 laptops to be sent with an overseas missionary.
Clyde is survived by his wife, Carolyn; two daughters, Pauline Sisson of Austin and Deborah Cheater and her husband James of Sallisaw, Oklahoma; one son Michael Poldrack and his wife Carrie of Lufkin, Texas; six grandchildren, Scott Shelton, Garrett, Jordan and Cailyn Cheater, Shelby and Hunter Poldrack; and one great grandson, Brody Shelton; along with many family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Lawrence, Clarence, and Floyd Poldrack, and two sisters Lorene Poldrack and Florene Woodward.
