I wish to offer my condolences to the Gainer family. Scott was a great colleague of mine and mentor trying to teach an Army guy the workings of the MIUWU. I met Scott when he was one of my students at ACC. I quickly hired him as my TA in Geology for several years. Scott and I shared many shooting adventures and long talks about everything from Navy to Geology and stuff in general. I will miss Scott sorely.

The navy has given me the prosperity for my family. Steven (Scott) was quick to remind me as a person from the Army working for the Navy you still get to go home and hug your family. Even after a hard day with the navy. I can’t remember what I was upset about three years ago but it seemed awful and terrible but Scott made a way to make me forget now what was bothering me. He was a great person to find information or retrieve contact information and he seemed to know everyone and everyone knew of him.
Fair winds and following seas
May you enjoy the peace and tranquility you deserve.
With much respect

My wife, Rebecca, and I wish to convey our condolences to our friend, Jeff, and his family, at this time of great sorrow. My memories of Scott take me back to 1972, Haas Jr. High, Corpus Christi, TX, 8th grade English class, where I met Jeff, and not too long after, Scott. I was impressed even then by his "big-brotherliness," his warmth, humor and decency, all qualities I see in his little brother, who I am thankful to continue to have as my friend. Rest in peace, Scott.

My condolences to Scotts family in your time of mourning.
I was a co-worker of Scotts. More than that though, over the last 10 years, I came to consider him not only a colleague but also a great man, an even greater friend and loving uncle as he talked about his family and nieces and nephews back in Texas often.
Scott the world was a brighter place with you in it. You are missed.

Scott was a very good friend of mine. I have known him for seven years. We enjoyed sharing our sea stories as we both have served in our Navy. I will miss him.
My Prayers to you Kim and your Family.

Decades ago, when we went to visit Uncle Dick and family in Long Island, Scott warned me to watch out for fish hooks along the pier. He explained how dangerous they could be and what removing one would entail. He assured me he did not want to scare me, but to give me a healthy respect for fish hooks. That really made an impression on me. I felt very loved and fortunate to have a cousin who cared enough to watch out for me. Scott definitely was a teacher and protector.
