John David Ekstein 1927-2007John David Ekstein,CW03, USN,ret.,age 80, passed from this life into the next on June 11, 2007. He is resting in the arms of Jesus. John was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. John is survived by his dear wife of 59 years, Dorlene Ekstein; his children Vicki Alberson, David and Doreen Ekstein, Rudy and Sheryl Contreras, 13 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and sister Leila Marti. He was preceded in death by his son Wayne Ekstein; his parents; 5 sisters and one brother. John was born in Nampa, Idaho on March 13, 1927 and was a faithful member of Redeeming Grace Lutheran Church in Austin, Texas. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of Saint David?s Medical Center ICU for their tender care during his last brief illness. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 p.m. ? 8:00 p.m. Wednesday June 13, 2007 at Mission Funeral Home Serenity Chapel 6204 South First Street. Funeral service will be Thursday 9:00 a.m. at Mission Funeral Home Serenity Chapel. Pastor Walter Hams will officiate. Interment will follow at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Redeeming Grace Lutheran Church 7002 Manchaca Rd. Suite 200 Austin, TX. 78745 or to the charity of your choice.
