Obituary of Cristobal (Christopher) Romo

Please share a memory of Cristobal to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Cristobal (Christopher) Romo May 19, 1980- May 11, 2007 Our Lord decided he needed our beloved Christopher E. Romo, 26, of Austin and College Station who passed away on Friday May 11, 2007. He was surrounded by the love of family members who were there until his last breath when he smiled to give us peace. In the short years that he graced us with his presence, Chris accomplished more than other people complete in a lifetime. More importantly than his material possessions and academic accolades, he loved and respected all his family and numerous friends-who loved him greatly. He always strived to be the best at whatever he tried to accomplish. Chris gave freely asking nothing in return, valued friendship and family, always willing to help when the need arose. Selfless till the end, he gave us memories that will never be forgotten, the best of us that will never become but will inspire always. He was the Valedictorian of the Class of 1998 at Regan High School in Austin, where he was a National Honor Society member. He also received numerous awards for his academic work and community service. He was captain of his high school wrestling team where he won 2nd place in the Capital Area Region Individual wrestling competition in 1997 and 1998. He was awarded many scholarships and awards for his academic accomplishments and enrolled at Texas A& M University where he was seeking a degree in Construction Engineering sustaining a 4.0 grade point average, as well as a member of the Corps of Cadets, where he treasured the camaraderie of his fellow cadets. He had promised his father that he would build him a home after graduation; how could we know that he meant something even greater?preparing a room in His house. His biggest academic challenge- perhaps- was enrolling at Texas A & M despite his father being a Texas Longhorn. He is survived by his father Zeke and his step-mom Gloria; brothers and sisters Tomas, Victoriano, Benjamin, John, Kenneth, Mellissa and Catherine. His brother Benjamin stood next to him like a rock. His sister Mellissa was there for him. Tomas and Victoriano helped to raise and support him. He is also survived by his grandparents; numerous aunts, uncles, nephew, nieces, cousins and friends who provided guidance and support. Visitation will begin Sunday, 11:00 a.m. at Mission Funeral Home Serenity Chapel 6204 South First Street. Recitation of rosary Sunday, 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady Of Guadalupe Catholic Church 1206 East Ninth Street. Rev. Barry Cabel C.S.C. will officiate. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery with a reception following at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church Hall 1206 East Ninth Street. Serving as pallbearers Benjamin Romo, Tomas Romo, Anthony Rivera, Andrew Rivera, Jesse Hernandez, Joel Navarro and Adam Balcom. The family wishes to extend special thanks to St. David?s Hospital, Christopher House and Hospice Austin for their help and support.
