Our beloved Leticia Uriegas, 64, a resident of Austin was called by our Heavenly Father on Friday, March 02, 2007. Preceded in death by her Parents; Arturo, Sr. and Alda V. Muraira, and one Sister; Velma Flores. Leti was an activist in the Civil Rights movement during the sixty's. She was instrumental in incorporating the Mexican-American Youth Organization (MAYO). Leti truly loved her family and cared for her community and this love inspired her to fight for justice and equality for future generations. She was also an entrepreneur, owned a beauty salon and grocery store in Uvalde, Texas. After moving to Austin she attended St. Edwards University at the same time taking care of her family's needs.
Survived by her Husband; Jose Vara Uriegas, their beloved Children; Joey Uriegas, Jr., Veronica Uriegas, Vanessa Johnson and husband Leon, 5 Grandchildren; Mary Madden, Rico Rojas, Celso Rojas, Jaylen Uriegas-Johnson, Julian Uriegas, one Brother; Arturo Muraira, Jr. and wife Christina, and a host of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.
Recitation of Holy Rosary Sunday at 7:00pm, Mission Funeral Home Remembrance Chapel (Cesar Chavez). Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday at 1:00pm at San Jose Catholic Church, Rev. Fr. Tom Franks and Deacon Romeo Sanchez officiating. Private Services by Family will conclude funeral.
