Joe S. S. DavilaJoe S. S. Davila was born on February 17, 1927 and passed away on December 17, 2006.
Joe was born in Pearsall, TX. and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in Europe. In 1955 he was the first Hispanic to hold a real estate brokers license in the state of Wisconsin. In 1960 he brought his family to Austin to work at Cook Chapel of Roses Funeral Home as a Funeral Director and Mortician.
In 1961 he co-founded the Angel Funeral Home in east Austin eventually moving to south Austin. After retirement he once again entered the real estate profession which he loved because he could meet and help others. He worked in real estate for 23 years. He served the community in many capacities from president of the Johnston PTA, former president of the east Austin Lions Club, Advisory Board Member of the Selective Service System, Services for the Elderly, Federal Grand Jury, Travis County Appraisal District, and many more organizations. He was a stranger to no one. If he had it, and you needed it , it was yours.
He is survived by his three children, Leonard Davila and wife Toni of Buda, Dolores Gomez and husband Robert (Bobby), Michelle Tambunga and husband Ruben; mother of his children Eva Davila; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren all of Austin; his sister Santita (Tita) Clause and husband Frank of San Antonio; brother Rudy Davila and wife Roberta of Austin; his Aunt Rebecca (Beca) Trevino of Pearsall; and many nephews, nieces and cousins. He loved his family with all his soul.
He was preceded in death by his parents Felipe Cortinaz Davila and Refugia (Cuca) Davila Padilla.
The Davila family wishes to express their gratitude to the employees of Odessy Hospice and Stonebridge Health Care Center who treated Dad superbly. Special thanks to the Villase?or family at Mission Funeral Home and the Trevino family at Royal Oaks Funeral Home in Pearsall.

Recitation of rosary Tuesday December 19th, 7:00 p.m. at the Mission Funeral Home Serenity Chapel 6204 South First Street. Funeral Service and Interment will be at noon on Wednesday December 20th at the VFW Cemetery in Pearsall, TX.
Serving as pallbearers are his grandsons Leonard Davila Jr., Jacob Natal, John Santos; great grandson Robert Gutierrez; sons-in-law Robert (Bobby) Gomez and Ruben Tambunga.
