Marnette Mays Hurd, 84, passed away in Austin, Texas, November 11, 2006. Marnette was born to Will and Mabel Mays on July 2, 1922 in Round Rock, Texas. To the parents were also born 7 daughters and 1 son.She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church in Round Rock, Tx. and later St. Paul Baptist Church in Austin, Tx.. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Howard Hurd, daughter Linda Hurd of Austin, Tx and son Larry G. Hurd of Silver Springs, Md. Survivors include: sons Howard E. Hurd of Wichita, Ks. and Master Sgt. Willie J. Hurd of Austin, Tx; daughter Margaret Marshall of Atlanta, Ga; step-daughter Faye Taylor of Austin, Tx and her husband Sherman Taylor; one sister, Bobbie Jordan of Milpeters, Ca. and daughter-in-law Peggie Hurd of Silver Springs, Md. Marnette is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, November 18, 2006 at Zion Rest Baptist Church 3326 Pasiano Trl., Austin, Tx.. Burial will follow at Capital Memorial Park Cemetery in Plflugerville, Tx. The family will be feed at Sweet Home Baptist Church, 800 Deepwoods Drive, Round Rock, Tx., where Dante D. Wright I is Pastor, following the service and internment.
