Amelia Mata GuerreroAmelia Mata Guerrero
Our beloved Mother, Grandmother and the Heart of our family passed into eternal life on June 26, 2006, surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. This beautiful and gentle soul was born near Garfield Texas on September 28, 1927 to Francisco and Catarina Mata, spent the rest of her life in Austin and married her one true love Tony Guerrero, Jr. on January 25, 1947. Papa preceded her in death on May 12, 2001. Together, Mama and Daddy lived a full, spectacular and adventurous life as civic, church and neighborhood leaders. They left their earthly pilgrimage with nothing undone, nothing unsaid, nothing unaccomplished. Though Mom could not drive, she walked miles for her health and her beliefs as a March of Dimes and American Heart Association volunteer. A distinguished and devout member and Eucharistic Minister of the Cup for St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, Mama was instrumental in passing to her family her strong Faith and Call to Service for all of God?s children and creatures. Left to honor her memory and a life fulfilled are her children Olga Guerrero, Tony (Gloria) Guerrero III, Grace (Henry) Boesenberg, Joe (Cindy) Guerrero, Viola (John) Duran, Nelda (Dan) Lyons, and Rene (Angela) Guerrero. She is also survived by her beloved and devoted grandchildren Tony Michael Guerrero IV, Kris (Rosalinda) Guerrero, Michelle and Kevin Guerrero, Tennille and Casey Boesenberg, Nicole (Michael) Trevino, Leslie Guerrero; Mia and Amelia ?Ru-Ru? Duran; Rene Guerrero Jr, Angelica Guerrero and Alicia Gonzales. She is also survived 9 loving and beautiful great-grandchildren and numerous family and best friends including Gene and Frank Alba, Gregorio and Lucille Cano, Mrs. Rose Arriaga, and David Chavez.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday June 28, 2006 at Mission Funeral Home Serenity Chapel. Mass of Christian burial will be at 12:00 noon Thursday June 29, 2006 at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church officiated by her pastor and shepherd Monsignor Fred Bomar.
Burial to follow at Assumption Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are her grandsons.
The entire Guerrero Family thanks the hundreds of friends and coworkers who, without their love, prayers and support, we could not have been able to provide Mom our full attention and assistance.
For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. 2 Timothy 4:6-8
