Elizabeth "Liz" Hernandez It is with peace and serenity that we lift our beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, and companion, age 64, to our heavenly father after she was so abruptly removed from her earthly cycle of life and called home to be with her Savior on October 17th, 2005. Liz was the consummate mother who raised five children and two grandchildren into secure, compassionate, faithful adults, in whom she instilled her morals and values and the importance God and family must play in your life. Liz's life revolved around her family. She surrounded them with congeniality, wisdom and love, always there to pick you up when you were down, lend a hand without being asked, and who's support and unconditional love was always a dominate presence. Her tender words and healing hands would soothe and comfort all of her children and grandchildren whether infant or adult. Liz was a proud and dedicated employee of H.E.B. for 23 years. She loved her job, and many of the people she worked with became her extended family and some of the dearest friends in her life. Liz is survived by her mother Celestina Garza; loving and long-time companion Gilles Marotte; children Anthony Hernandez of San Francisco, John Hernandez, Jr. and Evelyn of Luling, David Hernandez and Mary of Austin, Dan Hernandez and LeeAnne of Lago Vista, Lisa Horton and Husband Billy of Austin; siblings Mary Salazar, Janie Oshiro, Lydia Gamez, Toni Davila, Richard Vasquez and Mary Rivera; ten grandchildren, two soon to be born great-grandchildren and many extended family and dear friends. Recitation of the Rosary Friday 7:30 p.m. at Mission Funeral Home Serenity Chapel (south). Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 1:00 pm at Mission Funeral Home Serenity Chapel (south). Fr. Jayme Mathias, O.M.F. Conv. will officiate. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery. Although she will be missed terribly, we have consolation and peace knowing she is with her beloved granddaughter Angela whom she grieved for daily.
