Iva McMorris Trousdale, known to friends and family as ?Mimi?, passed away peacefully at home on March 6, 2005, at the age of 92. Mimi was born in Arkansas on September 7, 1913 to John Benton and Maggie McMorris. Her family moved to McKinney, Texas where she was orphaned at age 5. Mimi began her remarkable career by attending a business school in Dallas before marrying William C. (Boots) Trousdale on February 5, 1933. They were married for 65 years before his death in 1996. ?Ms T? and Boots founded Austin?s first and largest auto salvage yard, OK Auto Parts. Although Mimi worked in a man?s world, ?Ms T? (as the men called her) was known as a sharp businesswoman who worked long hours building a tremendously successful business while raising three girls. She was a strong, liberated woman long before it was fashionable to be so, and she taught her daughters and granddaughters the importance of strength and independence. Although she was officially a mother to three daughters, unofficially she was a mother figure to many more. By the time Mimi retired, it would have been hard to find anyone in the auto community who was not grateful to Mimi for a few favors. She was a tireless fundraiser for St. Mary?s Cathedral School and St Mary?s Academy. Although her business was important, the center of Mimi?s life was her family. After retirement, Mimi moved to Pflugerville to be with her younger daughter, Michelle Sheehan, her husband Bob, and their children Farren and Ryan. Mimi is also survived by her daughters; Kim Bowie of Dallas, Texas and Anne Carr of Crumpton, Maryland; eight other grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Mimi lived her life on her own terms, with unique perspective and sense of humor. Her family is profoundly grateful for the time we had her, and the example she provided us in living and dying. She was deeply loved, and she will be missed. The family would like to thank Victoria Brown and Pearlene Williams for their care and support of Mimi through the last two years also to Mary and Diane. Thank you to Renee Harrison of Richardson Creek Hospice. A memorial mass will be held on Thursday at 3:00 pm at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. Following the services the family will receive friends at 2625 Amen Corner Rd., in Pflugerville. Mimi will be taken to Troup, Texas and laid to rest in Bradford Cemetery with Boots and his family whom she loved so much. A graveside service will be held on Friday March 11, 2005 at 1:00pm at Bradford Cemetery in Troup, Texas with Father Dan Daugherty officiating.
