Obituary of Gregoria M. Lopez
Please share a memory of Gregoria to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Gregoria M. Lopez, Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother, and friend, entered Eternal Rest on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at the age of 92. She is preceded in death by her parents, Filiberto and Martiniana Melendez, Brother Francisco Melendez and Sister Petra Melendez Rodriguez.
Gregoria, AKA Goya or Goyita, was an active member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. She was involved in many organizations at her church and was a member of Las Guadalupanas, La Vela Perpetua Society, Las Carmelitas, and Sagrado Corazon. She served in various capacities and served in many roles in these organizations, from Secretary to President. She also served in many ministries; Eucharistic Minister, Alter Linen Care, Rosary Ministry Group, Marriage, and Baptismal Preparation Classes.
Her heart was always of a servant and when she wasn’t raising her children, working, or marching alongside the Brown Berets fighting for the rights of the Hispanic community in East Austin, she was volunteering. On Sundays she’d feed the masses after church mass or offer delicious gorditas at the annual Jamaica. Working the Goya gordita booth at the Jamaica became a family tradition for many years. Georgia touched many lives and hearts as she offered food, shelter, and love to those in need.
Senora Lopez is survived by her husband of 69 years Reyes T. Lopez and children: Estella Ramirez, Johnny Lopez and his wife Judy, Frances Lopez, Isabelle Lopez and her husband Edward, Rosalinda Arroyo and her husband Jose, Joe Lopez and his wife Katherine, Victor Lopez and his wife Dora, Jessie Lopez and his wife Amy, Carmela Morgan and her husband Roy and Rene Lopez and his wife Angelica. She has 27 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers is her baby boy Rene Lopez, grandsons, Derek Lopez, Jacob Morgan, Zachary Morgan, Adrian Lopez, Elijah Lopez, David Lopez, Juan Ramirez.
The family would like to express gratitude to Dr Lomita Kim, Dr John Kim, Dr. James Uyeki and the staff at Texas Oncology and South Austin Hospital 3rd floor for always being amazing and offering the best care to our Queen.
