Our beloved Carmela Escalante Olvera, age 68, resident of Austin, Texas, was called home to our Heavenly Father on Saturday, February 24, 2024.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Martin Escalante and Petra R. Escalante; her son, Joe Haros, Jr.; her siblings, Steven Escalante, Isabel Bueno, Emily Pina, Antonio "Tony" Escalante, and Louis Escalante Sr.
Carmela is survived by her husband, Gabriel Olvera; her children, Veronica Haros, Josephine Munoz, Olivia Castro, and Larry Ely Castro; her grandchildren, Michael Castillo, Mariah Castillo, Joseph Haros, Selena Haros, David Dominguez, Matthew Munoz, Vivian Gonzalez, and Carmela Gonzalez; 10 great-grandchildren; her siblings, Martin Escalante, Janie Escalante, Rebecca Escalante, Yolanda Harros, Hopie Rodriguez, Patsy Garcia, and Geneva Escalante; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, and many other loving family members and friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m., at Mission Funeral Home Serenity Chapel, 6204 S 1st Street, Austin, Texas 78745.
Scripture Service will be held on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at 11:00 a.m., at Mission Funeral Home Serenity, 6204 S 1st Street, Austin, Texas 78745.
