Obituary of Dana Lefler

Mr. Dana Leon Lefler, age 57, a longtime resident of Austin, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 5, 2004. From an early age, public service was an important part of his life. He was introduced to Scouting by his father where he earned the high honor of Eagle Scout at age 14, a coveted honor his son Jonathan would later earn.
Professionally, Dana served as Assistant Director of Community Development during his 25 year tenure with the City of Arlington. He moved to Austin in 1994 where he continued to volunteer for many organizations.
Dana Leon Lefler will be most revered for his roles as a husband and a father. He will also be remembered for the family tradition in Scouting that was passed to him and now to his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 17 years. Lillian Hartman Lefler; children and their spouses, Jonathan Wilson Lefler, Rachel Lefler Eckley and Bill, Sharon Lefler Cantu and Fred III; step children, Stephen James and Stacie Shott; grandchildren, Anastacia, Rico, Devin, James, Tony, and Adam.
Visitation will be held Friday, 7:00pm ? 9:00pm at Mission Funeral Home Serenity Chapel, South Austin. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, 10:00am, in the chapel of Mission Funeral Home Serenity Chapel, South Austin. Brother Clyde Poldrack will officiate Services. Interment will follow in Assumption Cemetery.
