Obituary of Mary Ruth Gonzales Maldonado

Our beloved Mary Ruth Gonzales Maldonado, age 80, resident of Austin, and born to Frank and Maria Ester Gonzales, was peacefully called by our Heavenly Father on Monday, February 19, 2024. Mrs. Maldonado leaves behind her devoted husband, Onesimo Maldonado, and a legacy of love through her children: Frankie, Jesse, Alex (Diane), Jimmie, Vera (Jose), Mary (Gerardo), and Susie (Chris). She was also a beloved sister to Sally Salazar and Carrie Aleman. Her nurturing embrace extended to 27 grandchildren, 72 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews, with a special place held in her heart for her niece, Judy Garcia. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Joe Gonzales, Vera Gonzales, Frank Gonzales, Sara Aleman, Edward Gonzales, and Lupe Sifuentes; her grandson, Zachary Jaramillo; and three great-grandchildren, Joe Anthony Salas, Jaden Salas, and Makayla Lopez. She was a devout Catholic and an active member of St. Julia Catholic Church, embodying her faith through selfless service. As a dedicated steward of her community, she exhibited an unwavering commitment to fostering children and contributed years of service to The Salvation Army. Her loyalty and strong work ethic were evident in her 40+ years of dedication to Kettler-Austin. Beyond her professional endeavors, her nurturing spirit and boundless love profoundly impacted the lives of countless young individuals, offering them stability, support, and hope for a brighter future. Her legacy as a compassionate caregiver and tireless advocate for vulnerable youth will endure, leaving an indelible mark on the community for generations to come. As we bid farewell, we honor Mrs. Maldonado’s life with gratitude for the love she shared and the light she brought into our lives. Pallbearers for her will be Jimmie Lopez Jr., Gerardo Jimenez Jr., Julian Jaramillo, Bryan Rodriguez, John Saucedo, John Estrada, Ray Ortiz, Renee Gomez, Ruben Salinas, and Francisco Estrada. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m., Monday, February 26, 2024, with Recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m., at Mission Funeral Home - East Side, 1615 East Cesar Chavez Street, Austin, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will take place the following morning, Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Julia Catholic Church, 900 Tillery Street, Austin, Texas. Committal will follow at Austin Memorial Park.
