Please share a memory of Guadalupe to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Our beloved Guadalupe "Lupe" Zamora, age 71, was called to our Heavenly Father on Thursday, January 11, 2024. She was preceded in death by her husband, Santiago "Jimmy" Duarte; her precious grandsons, Daniel Zamora and Santiago Zamora; her parents, Leonard Reyes and Rosie Montoya, and her sister, Helen Alvarado. Lupe was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, wife, sister, aunt and friend. There are so many things we can list about her that could fill an entire day. These are just a few: Lupe had love for life and adventure. She enjoyed deep sea fishing, camping, and traveling to new places. She was always excited to get up and go and welcomed company to join her. She had a big heart and loved being around people. When camping during the cold months she loved sitting around a warm campfire telling stories and listening to music. She loved cooking outdoors on the grill or over the campfire with marshmallows. She knew how to plan and pack for camping and was always prepared when someone who joined her didn't bring enough. When deep sea fishing, it was surprising that she never got seasick and always seemed to have a great catch of fish at the end of the trip. Her generous spirit always on display as she happily shared her bounty with those who didn't do as well fishing. Lupe’s adventurous spirit was evident by her many vacations across the U.S. She has so many pictures of her destinations. Places that she made memories and collected souvenirs. She enjoyed conversating about these trips, and you could see the happiness in her face when she did. The job she loved most was being a mother. She was a great mom and had three sons, a daughter and two bonus children in her stepdaughters. She put so much of herself into raising her children and all have blossomed in life and with their own families. She always enjoyed cooking for her family, and it was always delicious. It was a joyous occasion sitting around the dining table with her and having family discussions around the food she prepared with love for her family and friends. She always made sure there were plenty of leftovers for everyone to take home with them. That’s how she was. But as a grandmother, she was like a mama bear watching over her cubs. She was very protective and nurturing. She loved her grand babies and great grand babies, and they loved her, seeming to never get enough of grandma during their visits. They always wanted to stay longer, talk with her and absorb all her love for them. She filled every room with love and care. During her lifetime she was lucky in love with her first husband, Ernest who was called to heaven at a young age and then years later found love again with Jimmy. They were married for many years until he too was called to heaven recently. She did her best as a wife. She had old school values in taking care of her home and husband. And in return she was also taken care of. She loved gardening in her home and spent a lot of time with her flowers and plants. She was always trying something new in her yard. It was very relaxing for her. Lupe had two sisters, Helen, which was called to heaven at a young age and Mary Ann with whom she shared a closer than sisterly bond with; together they enjoyed each other's company and friendship with many outings, hobbies and vacations together. Lupe always enjoyed a good game of bowling with her sister and other friends and family. She was a good bowler and had a lot of fun doing it. Lupe had so many nieces and nephews and friends, all of whom have been impacted by the kindness that she showed to everyone regularly. Many were treated as if they were her own children. She would open her home to any of them just for the asking. She never expected anything in return from anyone. Her kindness was very rare and plentiful. She was always happy to give help or hugs to anyone that was in need. She made everyone feel special and a provided a sense of true belonging to all those in her life. She is and will always be greatly missed by many. Although she would not want us to hurt or be sad...how are we not to feel pain when someone so special is called home by God. Guadalupe is survived by her children, Michael Zamora, Ernest Zamora (Kanokwan), Ricky Zamora (Janice), Ashley Zamora (Isaac Soto), Lisa Duarte, and Breanne Duarte; her grandchildren, Andrew Zamora, Daniel Zamora (Eryn), Bryson Zamora, Erica Muñoz, Sarah Zamora, Jacob Zamora (Victoria), Charlotte Zamora, Lucas Zamora, Megan Pacheco (Montana), Alyssa Zamora, Frances Prada, Anthony Prada, Emma Zamora, Zella Zamora, Zander Zamora, Josh Duarte, and Sierra Duarte; great grandchildren, Aiden Zamora, Dominic Dominguez, Ellie Dominguez, Melanie Muñoz, and Mia Muñoz; her sister, Mary Ann Ortiz (Salvador); her brother-in-law, Pete Alvarado, and several nieces, nephews, other loving family and friends.
