Obituary of Joe Requejo Jr.
Our beloved Joe Requejo, Jr., age 62, resident of Del Valle, Texas, was called home to our Heavenly Father on Sunday, October 16, 2023.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Z. Requejo, Sr.; his sisters, Nancy Requejo and Joann Requejo.
Joe was the epitome of selfless service and public service to his community. He enlished into the United States Marine Corps where he attained the rank of Sergeant, sworn in as a Law Enforcement Officer with the LCRA and Austin Community College, and served the City of Austin 15+ years in various capacities (Austin Public Library, City of Austin Parking Enforcement, Austin Energy, City of Austin Airport, and the Convention /Palmer Events Center). Joe joined the Austin Convention Center Department in December 2019 as a member of our Event Staff within the Security and Safety team. In February 2022, Joe was offered and accepted a position as a Facility Service Representative within our uniformed Security staff for the evening shift. In January of this year, Joe was promoted to FSR Lead on the evening shift team. Joe's service to his nation, community, his dearest loved ones, and ACCD family will be truly missed.
Joe is survived by his mother, Isabel S. Requejo; his life partner, Monica Benavides; his children, Andrianna Castro, Joe Requejo III, Christopher Requejo, and Kaylie Requejo; his one beloved grandchild, Maysen Charles Finley; numerous nieces and nephews, Delia Castro, Dolores Foster (Troy), David Castro (Frances Garza), Daniel Medina (Letty), Joseph Requejo (Sherri), Michael Medina (Jackie Ramirez), and Deserah Telles (Rocky), as well as many cousins and other loving family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Joe Requejo, III, Christopher Requejo, Daniel Medina, Michael Medina, Joseph Requejo, David Castro, Brian Barron, and Troy Foster.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m., at Mission Funeral Home Serenity, 6204 S. 1st Street, Austin, Texas 78745.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at 10:00 a.m., at Cristo Rey Catholic Church, 2208 E. 2nd Street, Austin, Texas 78702. Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery, 3650 S. IH 35 Frontage Rd., Austin, Texas.
