Obituary of Juanita T. Alvarado
Juanita (Janie) T. Alvarado passed away from this world to her eternal rest with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Friday, October 6, 2023 with her family surrounding her. Janie, as family and friends called her, lived a full 87 years at her passing.
Janie is survived by her children: Sylvia Alvarado (Rogelio Gonzalez), Diana (Raul) Vallejo, Miguel (Yvette) Alvarado, Ursula (John) Sullivan, Sergio (Lisa) Alvarado, and Martin Alvarado (Melissa McFerrin); her grandchildren, Analicia, Raul Javier (Sheryl), Maricruz, Zachary, Jacob (Gala), Aleena, Gabriela, Lilly, Brendan, Sergio, Kevin, Arabela, and Samuel; her great-grandson, Ezrin and soon-to-be great-granddaughter, Baby Vallejo; and, her two cats, Patch and Bronca.
Janie also leaves behind her loving sister and brother-in-law, Marye and Leonard Hernandez, their children and grandchildren along with her late sister Rita’s daughters. Also surviving are her late husband’s sisters and brothers and their spouses and children.
Predeceasing her in 2022 was her loving husband of over 60 years, Jesus, or Jesse, as many called him. Also leaving this earth before Janie were her parents, Juan and Toribia Torres; her brothers and sisters, Panfilo (Andrea), Jesus, Epifania, Catalina, Margarita, Maria, Patsy and Lil Torres and her sister, Rita Solis and one grandchild, Catherine Mary Sullivan.
Her family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Capital Medical Clinic along with Nurse Rosenda and all the special people at St. David’s Hospice Care Unit who offered their compassionate care to Janie and her family.
A special note of appreciation goes to her devoted caretakers, Sra. Zoila and Sra. Ana as well as Janie’s granddaughter, Dr. Analicia, for spending countless sleepless nights with Grandma to make sure she had 24-hour care.
Janie’s visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, October 13, 2023 with a Holy Rosary prayed at 10:00 a.m. and a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Austin, Texas.
After the mass, a burial service will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery in Granger, Texas where Janie will be laid to rest next to Jesse.
