Obituary of Augustina "Tina" P. Hernandez

Our beloved Augustina "Tina" P. Hernandez, age 75, resident of Del Valle, Texas, was called home to our Heavenly Father on Tuesday, August 1, 2023.

She was born in New Braunfels, Texas. Tina grew up in a family of 14 siblings, and helped her family by doing migrant work in her earlier years. Tina married her husband, Theodore "Ted" on September 9, 1972. She and her husband had three children they loved, and worked hard for the Austin ISD Food Service until her retirement in 2008. Tina loved being a grandmother and enjoyed gardening with her husband. She will always be remembered for her bright smile, positivity, and loving her blessed life. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eduardo Pineda and Paulina Ruiz Pineda; her grandson, Lucas James Hernandez; her siblings, Eustacio Pineda, Angela Gutierrez, Juan Pineda, Edward Pineda, Jr., Onesimo Pineda, and Frank Pineda. 

Tina is survived by her husband of 51 loving years, Theodore R. "Ted" Hernandez; her children, Melinda Castillo (Ricky), Christopher Hernandez, and Eva Hernandez; her beloved 14 grandchildren: Nathaniel Isaac, Daniella Lisa, Javier Ricardo, Alicia Gabriella, Katalyna, Colton James, Ryan Isabella, Elizabeth Ann, Tara Nicole, Derrick Michael, Jessica Marie, Jacob Christian, and Owen Lucas; her siblings, Serafina Ledesma, Valente Pineda, Jesse Pineda, Theresa Martinez, Maria Sanchez, Lupe Saldana, and Martin Pineda; numerous nieces and nephews, and many other loving family and friends. 

Serving as Pallbearers are Nathaniel Yannuzi, Javier Castillo, Ricky Castillo, Mario Pineda, Jesse Ledesma, and Ricky Saldana.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 7, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m., at Mission Funeral Home Serenity Chapel, 6204 S. 1st Street, Austin, Texas 78745.

Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., at Dolores Catholic Church, 1111 Montopolis Drive., Austin Texas 78741. Interment to follow at Austin Memorial Park Cemetery, 2800 Hancock Dr., Austin, Texas.
