Obituary of Leonard Ross Groeneveld

Leonard Ross Groeneveld was called to our Heavenly Father on Sunday, July 16, 2023.  He passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family.  He was preceded in death by his daughter, Leslie Groeneveld; his parents Robert Peter Groeneveld and Mable Ross Groenevled, nee Wilson and his siblings, Patsy Erb and Jerry Groeneveld (Cindy)

Born and raised in Oak Park, Illinois. Attended Illinois College of Pharmacy in Chicago, Illinois. 

He met and married Terry Lee Phillips Groeneveld in the 50's and raised a hearty family of five children: Peter, Stephen, Diana Gill, Michael & Wendy Wiley in Oak Park, Illinois. He pursued life with enthusiasm and vigor. Learning to embrace life in search of truth, wisdom and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. 

His transfer to Texas brought him new adventures and changes in professional pursuits. He was a faithful teacher of the Word and enjoyed such hobbies as horsemanship, pottery and traveling. Camping with his family brought new experiences with the outdoors and photography. He was an avid reader and writer and studied the Word with faithfulness. 

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Terry Groeneveld; his children, Peter Groeneveld (Debra) Stephen Groeneveld (Shelly), Diana Gill (Brian), Michael Groeneveld (Christine), and Wendy Wiley (Steve);  brother Lyle Groeneveld (Sharron); his sister, Jan Julien; his brother-in-law, Larry Erb; 20 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, as well as numerous other loving family members and friends. They were a blessing to him as he was to us. 

He will be greatly missed but his words and teachings will live with us all for eternity.

In leiu of flowers, please make donations in honor of Mr. Ross Groeneveld to Bastrop Family Crisis Center.  The mission of the Family Crisis Center is to be the expert resource and service provider in eliminating domestic and sexual violence in Bastrop, Colorado, Fayette and Lee Counties

A Celebration of Life will begin at 2:00 p.m. on August 6, 2023 at Bastrop First Assembly of God Church, 609 Pecan St., Bastrop, Texas.
