Obituary of Tony M. Garcia, Jr.

Our beloved Tony M. Garcia, Jr., age 83, was called to our Heavenly Father on Friday, June 16, 2023.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Tony Garcia, Sr. and Eloisa Guerra Macias; his brother, Johnny Garcia, and his son-in-law, Joe Louis Garcia. 

He was born, July 7, 1939, a proud graduate of William B. Travis High School and served our country as a member of the United States Army.  He retired from the Austin American Statesman and was the owner of Fiber-Tex, located on E. 1st St.

Tony is survived by his wife of 63 years, Zoila Garcia; his children, Diana Garcia, Gloria Espinosa (James), Delta Garcia, Tony Garcia III (Vanessa), and Debbie Gomez (Mike); his grandchildren, Jeremy Garcia, Derrick Garcia, Nicole Rangel, Alejandra Gardner (Caleb), Desiree Juarez (Josh), Savannah Berg (Randy), Joe Louis Garcia, Jr. (Melissa), Tony Andrew Garcia IV, Jacob Garcia, Sarah Garcia, and Jazmin Gomez; his siblings, Olivia Estrada (Ernest), Henry Garcia (Patricia), Rosemary Muniz (Victor), Rosalie Leon (Enrique), Tony Garcia III, Robert Guerra, Henry Guerra, and Judy Young (David), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other loving family and friends.

Honored Pallbearers will be Jeremy Garcia, Derrick Garcia, Joe Louis Garcia, Tony Garcia IV, Jacob Garcia, Josh Juarez, Caleb Gardner, and Randy Berg.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-9:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 25, 2023 at Mission Funeral Home - South Side, 6204 S. First St, Austin, Texas.

The Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 26, 2023 also at Mission Funeral Home - South Side.  Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery, 3650 S. IH 35 Frontage Rd., Austin, Texas.
