Obituary of Jesse C. Sustaita Sr.

Our beloved Jose Jesus (Jesse) Cardenas Sustaita was called home to our Heavenly Father, surrounded by his family, on June 9, 2023.

Jesse, age 84, was born in Hornsby Bend, TX on October 28, 1938 and was married for 61 years to his love, Nadine Rose Coyle. Jesse was a loving husband, father, and U.S. Army veteran, who supported his family as a postal employee for over 30 years.

Jesse enjoyed taking his family on long driving adventures, was an avid sports enthusiast, enjoyed reading, was king of dad jokes, and passed on to his children his love for word and number puzzles. Jesse was a man of humble beginnings who was extremely proud of his upbringing, family and heritage. Jesse maintained his faith in Jesus Christ, was thankful for his blessings, and was always willing to help others in need. Jesse will be dearly missed by many friends and family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and Maria del Refugio Cardenas Sustaita; brothers, Benito, Rafael, Miguel, Antonio, and Simon Sustaita; sisters Nicolasa Medrano, Maximina Sustaita, Nieves Cobos, and Maria Del Refugio Sustaita; and grandson John Anthony Rodriguez, Jr.

Jesse is survived by his wife, Nadine; and his children, Jesse Sustaita, Nora Hagar (Keith), Amy Tello (Steve), Ruth Sustaita, Bill Sustaita (Valentina), Jessica Pappalardo (Pasquale), and Nadine Chavez (Cesar); 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and siblings Rodolfo Sustaita and Simona Nunez.

Serving as Pallbearers; Jesse Sustaita Jr., Bill Sustaita, Steve Tello Sr., Pasquale R. Pappalardo, III, Cesar Chavez, and Jonathan Sustaita.

Visitation Service will be held on Monday, June 19th, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Mission Funeral Home - East Chapel, 1615 E. Cesar Chavez, Austin Texas 78702.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 20th, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 2111 Parker Lane, Austin Texas 78741.

Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery, 3650 S. IH-35, Austin, Texas 78704.
