Obituary of John Hernandez, Jr.

Our beloved John Hernandez, Jr., age 79, resident of Austin and Kyle, was born into Eternal Life on Friday, June 2, 2023. He is reunited with his son, Alex Hernandez; his parents, John Hernandez, Sr., and Pascuala Benavides; his grandson, John Salvador Gomez; his brothers, Louis Benavides and Alex Hernandez; his sister, Dolores Rodriguez; and the mother of his children, Theresa Rangel.

John is survived by his children, Veronica Pecina, Frances Hernandez, Juan Benito Hernandez, Jr., Anthony Hernandez, Christopher Lee Hernandez; his grandchildren, Stephanie Gomez, and her spouse, Vershaun Nixon, Jasmine Jeanette Salgado, and her spouse, Jose Armando Salgado, Javier Pecina, Jr., and his spouse, Ketheysha Paola Morales, Alex Hernandez, and his spouse, Valerie Acosta, Michael Angel Mendez, Jr., Rita Dolores Carrillo, Theresa Juvanie Carrillo, Sydney Samaya Hernandez, Juan Aiden Hernandez; 20 great-grandchildren; his siblings Gloria Ramirez, Dora Martinez, Mary Benavides, Maria Quick, Liz Villanueva, Julie Montana, and her spouse, Daniel, Julian Alonzo, Antonio Benavides; numerous nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.

The Hernandez Family calls the following individuals to serve as pallbearers: Cruz Rangel Jr, Alex Hernandez, Jose Armando Salgado, Javier Pecina Jr., Guillermo Alfonso Gomez, and Rico Armani Gaytan. And as Honorary Pallbearers: Javier Pecina Sr., Leon Hernandez Sr., Leon Hernandez Jr., Michael Angel Mendez Jr., Jasiah Javier Pecina, and Jose Armando Salgado Jr.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m., with Recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Mission Funeral Home - East Side, 1615 East Cesar Chavez Street, Austin, Texas. 

Mass of Christian Burial will take place the following morning, Friday, June 9, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1206 East Ninth Street, Austin, Texas. 

Committal to follow at Assumption Cemetery.
