Obituary of Michael Alan Beranek

Please share a memory of Michael to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Our beloved Michael A. Beranek, age 73, was called to our Heavenly Father on Thursday, May 11, 2023.  A life too short for all of us but so very well lived.  He tells it best in his own words when he wrote a personal healing project entitled “ I am who I am” a few years ago, a copy of this beautiful pictorialized song is included in the slideshow below.

Michael held a strong faith in God, was immeasurably devoted to his family and was a man with many talents.  He had a love for music, playing both guitar and piano. This love of all things music started early; with a friend in the service sitting on a beach in Hawaii he composed the lyrics to “Love Is All Around” later recorded by the Troggs after selling the rights. His other loves included computers, programming, photography, videography and dogs.

Rock and roll was his music of choice, action movies (especially James Bond), cooking and of course eating well were big favorites. College football was a must with the Nebraska Cornhuskers being his favorite team, his 2nd favorite would be any team that beats the Texas Longhorns.

He often introduced himself as “Ralph”, his alter ego, born from a good sense of humor and desire to make people smile. Loved to tease and tell jokes whenever the situation presented itself.

No one could have asked for a better husband or father, he will be missed tremendously.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Dorothy Beranek and his siblings, Kathleen Wasilewski, Doris Ehnhuus, Nancy Taylor, Rita Ramage, and Debbie Nelson.

Michael is survived by his wife of 28 years, Aurora Beranek; his children, Ashley Marie Beranek, Scott Beranek, and Jeff Walters (Carol); his grandchildren, Courtney Walters, Allyssa Walters, Justus Walter; Michael Philllips, and Jason, great grandchild, Cade Walters; his brothers-in-law, Bill Ramage and Dennis Nelson as well as numerous nieces, nephews, Elizabeth Walsh, Sandra Genz, Laura Wasilewski, Harold Ehnhuus, Mary Ellen dela Rosa, Cheryl Szawicki, Janette Krizanac, MaryAnn Trejo, Donna Urbin, Chris Ramage, Carrie Beachler, Josh Nelson and Anna Nelson and other loving family and friends.
