Obituary of Ricardo "Rick" Rodriguez
Ricardo “Rick” Rodriguez of Austin, Texas passed away on January 11th, 2023, at the age of 55, after battling colon cancer. Rick is loved and missed by many. Rick is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, his maternal grandfather, his father, and his beloved cat.
Rick is survived by his soul partner, Jessica Dominguez of Austin, Texas, his children: John Rodriguez, Allyssa Rodriguez of New York, Nicolaus Calderon, Trisha Delgado, Angelique Rodriguez, and Caitlin Rodriguez of Florida, many grandchildren, his loving mother, Luz Rodriguez, his brother Jose Antonio Venegas of Florida, and his sister Marilyn Holloway, brother-in-law Cecil Holloway, niece Angelica Vega of Pennsylvania, and additional family and friends.
Rick was born in Bronx, New York on April 30, 1967, was baptised as an infant on November 1, 1969 and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour on January 6, 2023. He lived in New York until 2006 when he wanted a change in climate and moved to Texas. Rick never lost his NY accent or “Big apple” personality! Rick was also proud of his Puerto Rican heritage.
Rick was CEO of his profession- Red Carpet Elite Car Service.
Rick’s favorite Superhero was Batman, hence his favorite quote, “Always be yourself, unless you can be Batman! Then always be Batman”. Whether a friend or family member, Rick made you feel safe.
Rick loved all genres of music, especially free style! Rick loved to dance, and even did so to commercials without skipping a beat. Rick made a friend everywhere he went, because he was witty, kind, and only brought positive energy. Rick left you feeling good about life and yourself when you were around him.
Rick was a die-hard NY Mets fan, NY Jets fan, NY Nets fan and a NY Islanders fan.
Thank you, Rick, for making the world a better place. Until we meet again, your memory will live on.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at Mission Funeral Home - South Side, 6204 S. First St., Austin, Texas. The chapel will open at 5:00 p.m.
