Manuel Ortegon Salas, Sr., 83, was born August 20, 1919 in Garfield, Texas. Passed away on Friday July 2, 2004.Proceeded in death by his Wife Dorcas Perez Salas and his Grandson Manuel Salas, III. Mr. Salas is survived by 6 beloved Children; Manuel Salas, Jr. and wife Lamar, the Rev. Joel Salas, Sr. and wife Esther, Mary Ann Salas and significant other Carol Scott, Yolanda DiBucci and husband Albert, Dolores Salas and Rebecca Salas-Fogleson. 22 Grandchildren, 24 Great-Grandchildren and 3 Great-Grandchildren survive him. Evening Prayer Services 7:00p.m. Sunday in the Chapel of Mission Funeral Home. Mr. Salas will lie in state 9:00a.m. on Monday at Hope Lutheran Church, 6414 North Hampton with Funeral Services to be celebrated at 10:00a.m., Pastor Peter Hackmann to officiate. Committal services will follow at Assumption Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Jesse Salas, Jr., William Pool, Diedra Craft, Krista Fogleson, St. John Requejo, Fabian Salas, Lino Pulido and John F. Lindsey. In lieu of flowers the Salas family is requesting donations be made to Hope Lutheran Church in care of Pastor Peter Hackmann.
