Obituary of Cruz Vera

Please share a memory of Cruz to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

On Friday, February 10, 2023, Cruz Vera, our beloved mother, went to be with our Savior at the age of 92. All who had the privilege to meet our mother loved her spirit and passion for life. Her priority was always the happiness of her family. While she had physical challenges late in life, she didn’t allow this to slow her down and was always ready to live her life to the fullest.

Cruz was preceded in death by her parents, Sabino Martinez and Maria Ruiz Martinez, and siblings Consuelo Duran, Hortencia Moreno, Porfirio Martinez, and Eugene Martinez.

Cruz is survived by her children Mary Vera, Marcelo Vera, Angelina Vera and her husband Raphael Shapiro, Richard Vera and his wife Yolanda, Domingo Vera Jr. and his wife Mary, Gloria Vera, Isabel Salazar and her husband Juan, Estella Vera, Anthony Vera and his wife Kathy, and Diana Vera and her husband Dennis, her sisters Dora Duran and Isabel Alvarez, 28 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other loving family and friends.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 15, 2023, with Recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m., at Mission Funeral Home Chapel, 1615 Cesar Chavez, Austin, Texas.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 16, 2023, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Austin, Texas, at 11:00 a.m.
