Obituary of Adolio "Lolo" S. Maldonado
Adolio "Lolo" Maldonado of Austin passed away at the age of 80 years old on Tuesday, February 7, 2023. Adolio was born on October 22, 1942 in Runge, Texas. He joins his parents, Matias and Jila Maldonado; his brother, Baldemar Maldonado, and his sister, Hilda Maldonado Estrada Lopez; and mother in law, Maria Castillo.
Adolio was a devoted father and grandfather, with a great passion for all his family and friends. He retired from Estrada's Cleaners after many years of hard work and dedication, and helped build up a successful dry-cleaning business in East Austin. He enjoyed spending his time at the ballparks, supporting his family during games and tournaments. Adolio was a huge fan of the Dallas Cowboys, one of his greatest memories was in 1993 when his nephews invited him on a limo ride from Austin Texas to Pasadena California Super Bowl XXVII (27), which the Cowboys won big. In the last 10 years of his life, he battled with cancer and despite the pain, he lived his life to the fullest and was as comfortable as possible with his family around him till the end.
Adolio is survived by his loving wife, Olaia "Elida" Maldonado; his children, Manuela "Mel" Maldonado (Robert), Roy Maldonado (Debbie), Judy Maldonado Rangel (Paul), and Cynthia Maldonado; his grandchildren, Paul Maldonado (Exiquia), Jennifer Rangel, Roy Anthony Maldonado, Crystal Maldonado-Porter (Michael), Matthew Diaz, Julianna Rangel, and Daniella Maldonado; great-grandchildren, Anevay Pena, Avaya Pena, Ralph Pena, Jr., Emrie Porter, Mila Maldonado, Andon Porter, Tristan Pena, Leilah Diaz, Oaklynn Maldonado, Zealand and Zachariah; his beautiful sister, Lydia Aparicio Sanchez, and numerous nephews and nieces.
The family would like to give their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Rene Castillo and staff at the Texas Oncology-South Austin, to the wonderful staff and nurses at St. David's Medical Center Outpatient Blood Cancer Clinic, thank you all for the great care and compassion you showed throughout the years. Thank you to Hospice Austin Staff for making our father comfortable during his last days. A special thank you to our dad's buddy, Jake Varela and Cruz Barron for all their love and support.
Pallbearers will be his nephews, Ernest Maldonado, Danny Estrada, and Joe Aparicio; his grandsons, Paul Maldonado, Roy Anthony Maldonado, Michael Porter, Matthew Diaz, and great-granddaughter Anevay Pena. Honorary Pallbearers will be his great-grandsons, Ralph Pena Jr., Andon Porter and Tristan Pena.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 17, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., with Recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 12:00 p.m., at Mission Funeral Home Serenity, 6204 S 1st Street, Austin, TX, 78745. Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery, 3650 S IH-35, Frontage Rd. Austin, Texas.
