Obituary of Susan Jo Rodriguez
Susan Jo Rodriguez, 69, – a very beautiful, smart, loving, amazing and caring soul – of Austin passed away peacefully on September 22, 2022. She was surrounded by her loving husband and family by her side, as well and her two main caregivers, who were with her throughout her illness, her granddaughters, Gabriella Rodriguez and Eliana Valdez. Susan was born on December 16, 1952.
She is survived by her husband Jose Rodriguez, Sr. and their five children: Joann (Frank) Mendoza, Jose Rodriguez, Jr., Janet Rodriguez (Joey Duran), Teri Rodriguez and Diana Rodriguez. She is also survived by twenty-one grandchildren, thirty-two great-grandchildren, her siblings, Johnny, Stella, Diana, Gloria, Gilda and her wonderful niece who was with her throughout her illness, Michelle Haddock. She was preceded in death by her parents, Juan Cervantes, Gloria R. Cervantes and sister, Carmen Rodriguez.
Susan was immensely proud of her family and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories. As her health declined, she still repeatedly told her children and grandchildren how much she loved them and how proud she was of them. She was a strong-willed and tenacious lady who always gave a good fight. She was loved by her family and many friends for her kindness and her caring nature.
Pallbearers will be Gabriel Rodriguez, Eli Valdez Jr., Joe Martinez, Leonardo Martinez, III, Michael Martinez, and Diego Mendez. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jose Rodriguez, Jr. and Gabriella Rodriguez.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-9:00 p.m. with Recitation of Holy Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at Mission Funeral Home - South Side, 6204 S. First St., Austin, Texas.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 29, at Santa Cruz Catholic Church, 1100 Main St., Buda, Texas. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Assumption Cemetery, 3650 S. IH 35 Frontage Rd., Austin, Texas.

Due to the Coronavirus/COVID-19 Restrictions from the City of Austin,
capacity levels are restricted at funeral homes, churches, and cemeteries.
