Obituary of Liopoldo Nieto Banda
Our beloved Liopoldo Banda, age 92, was called to our Heavenly Father on Thursday, September 1, 2022. He is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Rafaela Banda; his children, Carmen Hernandez and Joe Banda his parents, Jose Banda and Adelaida Nieto; and his siblings, Cruz Banda Sr., Guadalupe Banda, Maria Lopez, Otillia Sedillo, Onesimo Banda Sr.and Jesse Banda Sr.
Liopoldo is survived by his children, Julian Banda Sr. (Esther), George Banda Sr. (Irene), Gilbert Banda Sr., Virginia Banda, Paul Banda Sr. (Sarah), Dolores Banda (Augustine), and Elizabeth Banda. Liopoldo also leaves 14 grandchildren, 34 great grand children, as well as numerous other family and friends to cherish his memory.
Serving as pallbearers will be Julian Banda Jr., Christopher Banda, George Banda Jr., Joshua Banda, Gilbert Banda Jr., Paul Banda III, Jonathan Banda, and Moses Gonzales.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary Service at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at Mission Funeral Home - South Side, 6204 S. First St., Austin, Texas. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at Santa Barbara Catholic Church, 13713 FM 969, Austin, Texas. Interment will follow at Hornsby Bend Cemetery, FM 969 E, Hornsby Bend, Texas.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Inez Ortega Sr. and Carmen Ortega; her children, Carmen Hernandez (Robert) and Joe Banda; and her siblings, Hipolito Ortega, Paul Ortega, Frank Ortega, Ascension Ortega, Esperanza Castillo, Basilio Ortega, Abraham Ortega, Inez Ortega Jr., and Canuto Ortega.
Rafaela is survived by her husband of 63 years, Liopoldo Banda; her children, Julian Banda Sr. (Esther), George Banda (Irene), Gilbert Banda, Virginia Banda, Paul Banda Jr. (Sarah), Dolores Banda (Augustine), Elizabeth Banda; and her siblings, Rosa Arellano (Joe), Leonard Ortega (Martha), and Onesimo Ortega (Mary). Rafaela also leaves 14 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren to cherish her memory.
Serving as pallbearers will be Julian Banda, Jr., Julian Banda III, Christopher Banda, George Banda, Jr. , Joshua Banda, Gilbert Banda, Jr., Paul Banda III, and Jonathan Banda.

Funeral Mass will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at Santa Barbara Catholic Church, 13713 FM 969, Austin, Texas. Interment will follow at Hornsby Bend Cemetery, FM 969 E, Hornsby Bend, Texas.
Services will be live-streamed to allow those unable to attend to participate.
