Obituary of Petra Gonzales Diaz

It is with great sorrow and grief that we announce the passing of our beloved Petra Gonzales Diaz, age 76 , a resident of Austin, Texas , who went into the arms of our heavenly Father On Sunday July 31, 2022.

She was a strong, deeply spiritual woman, who was fully devoted to her husband, children and Family. Petra embodied the pioneer spirit of hard work and a willingness to help those less fortunate as evidenced by her volunteer work with Meals On Wheels, spreading the Gospel, and work with Victory Ministries in Austin. Petra retired from Sam’s Club, after 20 years, where she was affectionately Called “Mama” by many of her co-workers, who never forgot her and would often visit.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Santos Gonzales and Rosa Lerma Valerio; her children, Willy Rodriguez, and Christine Rodriguez; her siblings, Rosemary Garcia, and Gilbert Balandran.

Petra is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, Martin Diaz; her son, Gabriel Rodriguez; her siblings, Santos Gonzales, Nick Gonzales, Adelita Ibarra, Trina Moralez, and Jesse Balandran; numerous nieces and nephews, and many other loving family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 11, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 p.m., at Mission Funeral Home Serenity, 6204 S 1st St. Austin, Texas 78745.

The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 12, 2022, at 10:00 a.m., at Mission Funeral Home Serenity, 6204 S 1st St. Austin, Texas 78745.

Interment to follow immediately after at Assumption Cemetery.3650 S. I-35 Frontage Rd. Austin TX. 78704
