Obituary of Simona Gutierrez

Our beloved Simona Gutierrez, age 78, was called to our Heavenly Father on Thursday, July 21, 2022. Simona is preceded in death by her husband, Toribio 'Toby' Gutierrez, her parents, Amado Mata and Christina Cortez, her granddaughters, Alayna Karas and Claudia Karas, and her brothers, Aurelio 'Popeye' Mata, Robert Mata, and Terry Mata.

Simona is survived by her children, Rosa Gutierrez Stox, Connie Murillo (David), and Toribio Gutierrez Jr. (Monica), her grandchildren, John Edward Stox Jr. (Jean), Jennifer Ramirez, Christina Karas (Arron), Joseph Hernandez (Shadawn), Angelica Castelan (Angel), Diana Lynn Guerrero (Jonathan), Andres Toribio Gutierrez (Ariana), and Gabriel Toribio Gutierrez, her sisters, Timotea Rangel, Sophie Ortiz, Amada Trujillo, and Angie DeLeon. 

Visitation will be held from 5:00-9:00 p.m. with Recitation of the Holy Rosary to begin from 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 29, 2022 at Mission Funeral Home - South Side, 6204 S. First St., Austin, Texas. Mrs. Gutierrez will be inurned with her husband at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery (Shelter 2) on Friday, August 12, 2022 at 11:15 a.m. 

Due to the Coronavirus/COVID-19 Restrictions from the City of Austin,

capacity levels are restricted at funeral homes, churches, and cemeteries.

We politely request the continued use of face coverings in an effort to

help protect our community.   If you are ill or are concerned about the virus,

it is recommended that you not attend services.

during this very difficult time.
