Obituary of Richard Alonzo
The world grew a little dimmer on June 28, 2022 when Richard Alonzo unexpectedly passed away at the age of 54. Richard had a big heart, an effortless charm, and wit to match that infectious smile he had that lit up a room. Richard was a loving brother, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend to many. He was a caring and outgoing man that made friends where ever he went. There was never a dull moment when Richard was around. He loved to serve people and helped anyone in need no matter the circumstances. He was a very special man!
Richard was born in Ulysses, Kansas to Antonia Alonzo on August 21, 1967. He graduated from Ulysses High School in 1986. He moved to Austin Texas where he managed and bartended for several years. Richard was not only a bartender at Buckets but became a friend and family member to those he served. His friends affectionately called him KC for his love of the Kansas City Chiefs. Although, he was a fan of the Kansas Jayhawks, San Antonio Spurs, and Texas Longhorns. He enjoyed listening to music and he loved his dog KC. He will be dearly missed by those he left behind.
Richard worked as the night manager at Bucket's in East Austin, TX for the past 13 years but the Hernandez family was blessed with his presence over 20 years ago. Within those 20-plus years he became more than just a friend or employee, he became family. A son to John and Gloria, a brother to their kids, and an uncle to their grandkids. The East Austin community treated Richard like their own and everyone knew and loved him. He will forever live in the hearts of the Hernandez family and the East Austin community.
Richard is preceded in death by his mom, Antonia A Hatton; grandmother, Victoria Rodriguez (viejita chula); grandfather Jesus Alonzo Sr and numerous aunts, cousins, uncles, and friends.
He is survived by his children: Alan Collier (Erika) and Andrea Farmer; his Siblings: Rosemary Rios of Kansas, Jessica Alonzo Ornelas of Texas, Paul Hatton of Oklahoma, Ramie Joe Hatton of Oklahoma, Emilio Alonzo of Washington, Gloria Reyes of Washington, Jesse Alonzo Jr of Kansas, Pete Alonzo of Oklahoma, Ralph Alonzo of Oklahoma, Adam Alonzo of Kansas, Robert Alonzo of Kansas and Lujuana Alonzo of Texas; his Step-Dad, Harold Hatton; his Grandchildren, Kristian Farmer and Aiden Wickes; his Nieces/Nephews, Kaira V Mendoza, Vanessa Dupuis, Bayleigh Hatton, Brooklynn Hatton, Braulio Guy Ortiz, Joe M Alejos, and Alex R Ornelas, as well as numerous family member and friends.
Richard loved to travel and spend time with his family and friends. Above all else, we will always cherish the memories that we have of him, his smile, his dimples, his kindness, and his loving heart. We will never forget that until we meet again brother. Gone but not forgotten!
