Obituary of Minerva Garcia

Our beloved Minerva Garcia also known to her grandchildren; great grandchildren as "Cookie Grandma" age 83, of Ciudad Acuña Coahuila, Mexico, was called to our Heavenly Father on Sunday, May 1st,  2022 at 5:41 p.m.

She is preceded in death by her father, Margarito, and mother, Manuela Segura Noriega. As well as siblings, Elpidio Noriega and Irma Gutierrez. 

Minerva is survived by her loving husband, of 54 beautiful years, Jose Lorenzo Garcia; siblings Raul and Tina; children, Minerva Garcia, Jesse DeAnda, Blanca Thomas, Rodolfo Noriega, Rebecca Garcia, and Rachel Barcenas. Leaving behind 12 grandchildren: Jesus, Juan, Jesse Jr., Jennifer, Tony, Christina, Eric, Rodolfo Jr., Monica, Meliza, Lucy, and Julia. She also leaves behind 28 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and other family members and friends. 

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with the Recitation of the Holy Rosary  in Spanish and English, at 7:00 p.m., at Mission Funeral Home Serenity, 6204 S 1st. Street, Austin, Texas.

Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at 1:00 p.m., at San Jose Catholic Church, 2435 Oak Crest Ave., Austin, Texas.

Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery. 

Due to the Coronavirus/COVID-19 Restrictions from the City of Austin,

capacity levels are restricted at funeral homes, churches, and cemeteries.

We politely request the continued use of face coverings in an effort to

help protect our community.   If you are ill or are concerned about the virus,

it is recommended that you not attend services. 

The family is so grateful to everyone for their understanding, love, and support

during this very difficult time.
