Obituary of Sophie Reyes

Sophie "Sophia" Rodriguez Reyes, 69, of Austin passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, with her children by her side.

Sophie was born on November 22, 1952, in Brownsville, Texas, to Alfredo L. Rodriguez and Maria De Jesus Lopez (Rodriguez).

Sophie worked at El Galindo Tortilla Factory in Austin for a few years; however, most of her years were spent taking care of her family. She attended Cristo Rey Catholic Church in Austin. She enjoyed spending time with her family, going to church, dancing, listening to music, going on leisure walks, fishing, going to the beach and volunteering at Brooke Elementary School.

She is survived by her son, Robert R. Reyes, Jr. and wife Amy; daughters, Rosemary Allen and husband Marcus, Nina Reyes and RoseAnn Reyes; grandchildren, Marqual Reyes, Mylan, Mary and Markea Allen, Miranda Gonzalez and husband Santos IV, Kenny Asevedo and fiancé Rebecca Garcia and Jenna Asevedo; great grandchildren, John Angel and Amy, Steve, Santos V, Nickolas, Eli, Josiah, Nicholas, Noah, Destiny, Hope, and Manual Jr.; great-great grandchild, Sophia; brothers, Alfredo Rodriguez, Jr. and Guadalupe (Lupe) Rodriguez and wife Nadine; sisters, Elida Rodriguez, Adelina Cron and husband Richard, Mary Penfold and husband Rod, Gracie Hamblen, Debbie Rodriguez and Selena Nells and husband Rueben.

She was preceded in death by her son Ricky Rodriguez Reyes; grandson Nicholas (Nick) Mark Asevedo; parents Alfredo L. Rodriguez and Maria Del Jesus Lopez (Rodriguez); brother, Carlos Rodriguez.

Visitation Service will be from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 31st, 2022 at Mission Funeral Home Chapel, 1615 E. Cesar Chavez, Austin, Texas 78702.

Mass of Christian Burial will; be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 1st, 2022 at Cristo Rey Catholic Church, 2208 E. 2nd St., Austin, Texas 78702.

Interment Committal Service will follow at Assumption Cemetery, 3635 S. IH-35, Austin, Texas 78704.
