May Jose Rest in Peace! Prayers for his soul and for the comfort of his family. I grew up in Uvalde, remember when Jose was elected to the Uvalde City Council as only the second mejicano, and the first to get elected without the blessing of the Uvalde elites! A lot of us were really proud of what he did, back in 1965. He was one of the adult advisors/leaders of our School Walkout in 1970. He was an inspiration to me, but I know that I was not the only student in Uvalde who thought that emulating Jose's actions and the way he lived his life was something we should aspire to. It has been almost 52 years since the last time I saw Jose, but reading the obit and the testimonials I read on La Voz de Austin, brought back memories. May God bless you and may your memories of Jose bring you peace in this very difficult time.
