Obituary of Janie Moreno Morales
On Sunday, February 27th, 2022,
Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and great grandmother Janie Moreno Morales gained her Angel wings at the age of 64.
Janie was born on September 24, 1957, in Austin, TX to Leonardo and Guadalupe Castro.
Janie resided in Austin, TX throughout her life. At a young age, she worked alongside her older sister in the fields. Over time, Janie found a job that fulfilled her passion for cooking with the Austin school district for over 20 years before retirement.
She had a love for sewing, cooking, growing her garden, watching her Novelas, expressing her deep love for God, and gossiping about the latest news with family and friends.
Janie was known for being a strong-willed woman who fought some of life’s toughest battles mentally, physically, and emotionally.
Janie will be remembered for her compassion and unconditional love for her family.
Janie is survived by her daughter, Monica A. Zuniga(Anthony), her three brothers David Castro, Leonardo Castro Jr(Patricia), Francisco Valdez, Sister Terrie Ramirez (Daniel), grandchildren Tina(Torrance), Anthony(Evey), Esperanza, and Marisol, and Great-grandchildren Maliyah, Marco, and Emmanuel and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by both parents Leonardo and Guadalupe Castro, Her son Manuel Morales and daughter-in-law Roxann, her grandson John-Eric, her older sister Victoria Tedford, her brother-in-law P.F.C Edward Secaida.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-9:00 p.m.with Recitation of Holy Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at Mission Funeral Home - South Side, 6204 S. First St., Austin, Texas.
A Scripture Service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2022 also at Mission Funeral Home - South Side. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery, 3650 S. IH 35 Frontage Rd., Austin, Texas. The chapel will open at 10:00 a.m. prior to services.

Due to the Coronavirus/COVID-19 Restrictions from the City of Austin,
capacity levels are restricted at funeral homes, churches, and cemeteries.
We politely request the continued use of face coverings in an effort to
