Obituary of Margaret C. Samora

Margaret Carmona Samora, age 92, was called by our heavenly father on February 13, 2022. She was born on March 12, 1929 in Austin, TX and lived her entire life in East Austin.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Johnny Stone Samora in 2012. Margaret’s parents were Candelaria Mosqueda and Joe G. Carmona, Sr., both of Austin, and brother Joe Carmona, Jr.. 

She is survived by her brother Manuel Carmona and sister Bertha Cruz, daughters Silvia A. Rodriguez and husband Jerry, Nancy C. Munguia and Belinda Samora, Granddaughters Cristina and Gabriela Rodriguez, and great-grandchildren Christopher B. Chapa and Sofia Rodriguez.

Margaret’s parents were the owners of Joe’s Place on East First Street (Cesar Chavez Street) of which she was very involved as were her siblings. Margaret attended the original Palm elementary on IH 35. Margaret was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. 

Pallbearers will include Jerry Rodriguez, Christopher Chapa, Rudy Carmona, Jack Cruz, Pedro Carmona, Mark Rivera

Visitation Services will be held on Wednesday, February 16th, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Mission Funeral Home Chapel, 1615 E. Cesar Chavez, Austin Texas.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 17th, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Cristo Rey Catholic Church, 2201 E. 2nd St., Austin, Texas 78702.

Internment Committal Service will follow at Assumption Cemetery, 3650 S. IH-35, Austin, Texas 78704.

Due to the Coronavirus/COVID-19 Restrictions from the City of Austin,

capacity levels are restricted at funeral homes, churches, and cemeteries.

We politely request the continued use of face coverings in an effort to

help protect our community.   If you are ill or are concerned about the virus,

it is recommended that you not attend services. 

The family is so grateful to everyone for their understanding, love, and support

during this very difficult time.
