Obituary of Rebecca Lynn Alvey

Please share a memory of Rebecca to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Rebecca Lynn Alvey, 65 of Austin, passed away on Tuesday, February 1st, 2022.

Rebecca Alvey grew up on Cesar Chavez (formerly 1st St.) and attended the historic Palm School in Downtown Austin.  In the early/mid 1960s, she founded and led the area's first Girl Scout Troop.  This was no easy task; in fact, she nearly had to give it up due to the lack of willing adult sponsors.  However, her characteristic zeal and determination enabled her to convince her P.E. teacher to sponsor the troop.  She remained very active in the Girl Scouts throughout the 1960's and managed to smash just about every cookie sales record there ever was.  Thankfully, her brother Steve was there to bolster the ongoing distribution efforts:)

She became active in church shortly after her parents purchased a second home in Pflugerville.  It was during this time that she took part in early efforts to form the First Baptist Church of Pflugerville.  Before long, the entire family was going to church.  She was a leader at home, at school, and at church.  Oh, I forgot to mention, she became the Pflugerville High School Mascot too!

After high school, she worked as a teacher to deaf and hearing-impaired children before beginning a career in the Title Industry.  She retired from Alamo Title (now Austin Title) in 2004 after experiencing significant health issues.

Her favorite thing to do was hang out with her Grandchildren.  She also enjoyed going to church at Rolling Hills Community Church in Lago Vista, antiquing, singing, and loving on her two cats.

Ms. Alvey is survived by her 2 Sons; Chad Phillip Parker and Wife Barbara, Jeremy Graham Parker, a loving part of her life, Niece; Alexis Hudson, 1 Sister; Melinda Moore, 1 Brother; Stephen Daily, 2 Grandson; Jackson Parker, Jacob Parker and a host of Nieces, Nephews and dear friends.
