Obituary of Maria de Jesus Huerta

Our beloved Maria Huerta, age 76, was called to our Heavenly Father on Sunday, January 16, 2022.  She was preceded in death by her son, Daniel Castilleja; parents, Jose and Maria Huerta, and her sister, Lupe Gill.

Maria is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Ernest Castilleja; her children, Rene Castilleja (Joanie), Yvette Hanks (Taren), and John Castilleja (Diana); her treasured grandchildren, Natalie Handley (Richard), Nicole Garcia (Edward), Anthony Castilleja (Brenda Guzman), Andrew Castilleja; Kevin Castilleja (Chelsa), Taylor Castilleja, Elianna Castilleja, Yolanda Mora, Cassandra Martinez, John Castilleja, Anastasia Toensmann, and John Castilleja; her siblings, Lucy Santa Maria, Juan Huerta, Terri Gallegos, and Juanita Blanco, and numerous nieces, nephews, other loving family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-9:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at Mission Funeral Home - South Side, 6204 S. First St., Austin, Texas.  Public services for Maria will conclude at the end of the evening, 9:00 p.m.

Due to the Coronavirus/COVID-19 Restrictions from the City of Austin,

capacity levels are restricted at funeral homes, churches, and cemeteries.

We politely request the continued use of face coverings in an effort to
